Taylor's POV
"Something like this?" Jack asked, hitting a key on his computer and letting a beat come through the speaker. I found the rhythm and nodded along, getting a feel for the music.
"Yeah, that's good." I murmured. "I like that."
It was our first session together since the Eras Tour had ended three days ago, and both of us were brimming over with new ideas. This next album had to be spectacular beyond anything I'd ever done before; all eyes were on me, waiting to see if I would fall or fly. I intended to fly.
"Soar." I blurted out, my train of thought taking me down that route.
"What?" Jack paused the beat.
"Soar." I repeated. "S-o-a-r. That's what the album's going to be called."
"Title track?" Jack guessed, and I grinned.
"Of course."
Lyrics, and then a melody, and then more flowed into my head. Leaning over to grab my phone, I started a voice note and let everything spill out, jotting it down in my current favorite notebook as I went. Jack and I started bouncing ideas off each other, lyric after lyric appearing on the page in front of me. No more than ten minutes later, we sat back and the fully written song. I couldn't remember the last time we're written one so fast, and Jack grinned at me as I stopped the voicenote. I'd forgotten the rush I got whenever we pulled something like this. It was incredible.
"Record timing dead tooth." He told me, and I rolled my eyes.
"That's a single." I stated the obvious, and Jack nodded.
We spent the next little while bent over guitars as we started building the song around the lyrics. It was easy enough, and we made quick work of it. When we were half finished, there was a light knock on the door and we turned to see Travis coming in, a tray of coffee in one hand.
"Hi." He leaned over to drop a kiss the top of my head as he bent down to put the tray on the table. "Figured you guys might need some energy."
"I love you so much." I sighed happily, reaching for a cup.
"Me or the coffee?" Travis joked, and we all laughed.
Travis sat back on a spare chair, just watching as we kept on with the song. I knew how much he loved hearing me play, so once we were finished with Soar, I played the song acoustically all the way through, reading off my notes. Travis' smile widened when I moved on to the only other song we'd completely finished, and I knew he was listening close to the lyrics.
"Tall and wild, like we're oh so young again, baby sweep me off my feet. The hundreds not a coincidence, my eighty-seven."
"What's that called?" Travis murmured once I was finished, and I glanced up at him.
"Eighty-Seven." I whispered. I'd littered the song with little inside jokes and innuendoes from our relationship. Some the fans would know, and some were just for the two of us. "So don't you ever break my heart Mr Eighty-Seven." I breathed, giving him a cheeky smile. "Because that song won't ever go away."
"I wouldn't dream of it." Travis brushed his fingers fondly over the back of my neck. "I'm far too scared you'll write a bad song about me." I laughed, putting down my guitar and then pausing. Travis had a funny look on his face that was kind of freaking me out because I couldn't tell what he was thinking. I could always read his expression, so I turned around on the couch to face him properly.
"What?" I asked. "What are you looking at me like that for?" He looked like he was unsure, fighting with himself. Then -
"Will you marry me?"
