Travis' POV
I tapped my fingers on the plane seat, watching on the little screen in front of me as the little picture of the plane drew closer to our destination. We were still an hour away from landing in Vancouver, and I got increasingly impatient with every minute that passed. I was probably annoying the people closest to me on the plane, but I honestly didn't care that much. I was too focused on what my girlfriend would do when she realized I'd flew to see her.
Taylor was on her last weekend of the Eras Tour and was under the impression I was so busy with the football season that I wouldn't be able to make it to the final show and after party. I'd thought that too, but then we'd been knocked out of the running for the Superbowl, and as devastated as I'd been that we wouldn't be making it to the big game, I was secretly pleased that I was able to go and see Taylor. She'd known we hadn't won the last game and had tentatively asked if I'd be coming to see her, but at that point, I'd still had other obligations. However, things had changed, and I'd decided to surprise her instead of telling her I'd be coming.
I felt bad for pretending I couldn't come and see her, since Taylor felt things very strongly and was pretty disappointed even though she'd tried to mask it. She was clingy - in the best way, don't get me wrong, I adored that about her - and her love language was physical touch above everything. Both of us had flown back and forth a lot during her tour so that we could spend just one night together, since Taylor got really detached if we went too long without seeing each other. I coped a little better than her, but not by much. We needed in person contact.
When the plane - finally - touched down, I breathed a sigh of relief. Like it always did, the plane aisles got clogged up with people waiting to get off, and since I was a 6'5 football player, I got stuck behind the crowd. Not wanting to hit my head on the overhead compartments, I just sat in my seat and waited until the crowd filtered out before getting up.
It was already eight in the evening so the show would probably just be starting. I was a little bummed out that the only flight to Vancouver today was late so I wouldn't be able to see my girlfriend before the show, but honestly, I was just glad to be here at all.
I took a taxi to the stadium to where a member of Taylor's personal security team was waiting for me. He took my bag to put in the car that was waiting to take Taylor back to her hotel after the show and handed me off to someone who worked at the stadium to take me to the VIP tent. I thanked the girl when she led me over and she nodded, smiling as she walked off.
The VIP tent was pretty empty; only Taylor's opening act Gracie Abrams was sitting inside. She was leaning on the front bar, watching as my girlfriend performed the Fearless set. I hadn't missed too much of the show. Gracie glanced up when I came in and smiled, looking a little confused but delighted to see me.
"Hey!" She straightened up. "What are you doing here? Taylor's been moaning on for days that you wouldn't make it to this weekend."
"Change of plans." I told her as I hugged her. "Thought I'd surprise her."
"That is so cute." Gracie sighed. "You two make me feel so single, but she's going to be so happy when she sees you." I grinned as I joined her leaning against the front of the tent.
We watched the show together, and even though I hoped Taylor would spot me from the stage, she didn't seem to even glance this way. She kept interacting with the fans right in the front row, obviously trying to make memories for the last night. It warmed my heart just how much she adored her fans. I spotted some tears trickling down her cheeks as she sang Long Live, obviously realizing that the tour she'd poured her heart and soul into was coming to an end.
"Vancouver, welcome to the acoustic set!" My girlfriend called into the microphone, looking overjoyed and sad at the same time. The crowd roared in response and she looked around, pressing her lips together like she was fighting back tears. "You guys know you are an extra special crowd to me, because, you are the last ever Eras Tour show!" Taylor wiped away a tear and laughed at herself. "Sorry, I'm a little emotional tonight. I'm sure you can understand why. I'm going to miss you all so much after this, but for now, let's just celebrate how many memories we've made over these last months."
