Taylor's POV

I jolted out of sleep, my eyes flying open to meet the sight of the dim bedroom, cast into darkness by the hour it was. My heart was pounding as I dragged myself out of sleep, turning my head to see Travis still fast asleep next to me, one of his arms wrapped possessively around my waist. His head was resting on my pillow, leaving his completely unused like he did every night.

I relaxed a little at the sight of him, the memories of my nightmare fading until I couldn't even remember what it had been about. My heart slowed down and I sighed, rubbing my eyes and pushing my sweaty bangs off my forehead. Then thunder boomed and I flinched, eyes flying over to the window. I could hear a storm thrashing outside, rain pounding down on the roof like little drums. I'd known the storm was probably coming over New York soon, but I hadn't thought it would be so soon. I'd counted on Travis not being here when it did.

My heart immediately sped back up as wind howled outside, so loudly I could almost swear it would wake up Travis. Pressing my lips together, I forced my eyes closed and tried to quiet my mind, not wanting to think about it. But it was too loud, and I couldn't help but hear the storm like it was attacking me personally.

Travis' POV

I woke up to the feeling of Taylor getting out of bed, sliding out from underneath my arm. Blinking my eyes open, I peered through the darkness to see my girlfriend moving over to the ensuite, my shirt hanging around her upper thighs as she ran her hands through her hair. I watched her go and then buried my face back into her pillow, inhaling the scent of Taylor's shampoo that clung to it.

I settled back into a half sleep to the rhythmic sound of the rain and the wind. Light thunder echoed outside as I waited for Taylor to come back, unable to sleep properly when she wasn't in my arms. I was so used to having her in the same bed as me since her tour had ended and we were off season, and we spent all of our time together now.

But then I heard the sound of Taylor throwing up and my head lifted. She coughed, whimpering quietly to herself, and I was on my feet within a second, rushing over to the ensuite bathroom. I pushed through the door and quickly knelt down with Taylor where she was slumped over the toilet, her body shaking as she threw up again. Taking her hair, I held it out of the way and slipped my other hand beneath her shirt, rubbing her back. She sounded miserable, shaking like a leaf with tears running down her cheeks.

"What's going on Tay?" I murmured when Taylor leaned back against the wall with a sigh, her eyes fluttering closed. She just shook her head, still trembling almost uncontrollably. "Hey, talk to me." I pleaded. I hoped I hadn't been the reason for this; I'd made dinner earlier and if she had food poisoning from that I'd feel horrible.

"Just..." She shuddered. "Don't feel well."

"Oh Tay, sweetheart." I rubbed her knee gently.

Then a clap of thunder sounded from outside and Taylor flinched, cowering back against the wall and tucking her knees up higher to her chest. I blinked, my eyes narrowing at her response to the sound. I'd never seen her act like that before. Was she scared of thunder? Now that I thought about it, had I ever been with Taylor during a storm before? Heavy rain sure, but a proper storm I was pretty sure I hadn't.

"Sweetheart?" I asked, placing my hand back on her knee gently. "Sweetheart are you scared of storms?"

"No." Taylor mumbled, ducking her head in an obvious lie. She fiddled with her fingers, and I watched as she flinched again at a sudden howl of wind.

"Tay it's nothing to be embarrassed about." I told her. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"I didn't want to seem pathetic." Taylor sniffed, refusing to look at me. "It's so stupid."
