bring your boyfriend to work day part 2

Travis' POV

"Travis!" Andrea opened the front door and then blinked in surprise to see me standing there. "Hi!"

"Hi Andrea." I smiled. "I'm sorry for dropping in on you like this, but I just needed to talk to you for a few minutes if you have the time." I'd already gone to see Scott and Austin, and Andrea was the last person I had to talk to before Taylor and I started shotting the So High School music video tomorrow.

"Of course, come on in." Andrea nodded, obviously still a little confused as to why I was here but happy to see me nonetheless.

Nervous as hell like I'd been for the last few days, I moved into Andrea's cozy little house and went down the hallway with her once she'd closed the door. Talking to Scott had been terrifying beyond belief, talking to Austin had been a little easier, but I knew that Andrea was Taylor's best friend. No one loved Taylor like her mother did, and they were attached at the hip whenever they were around each other. I meant no disrespect to any of her other family members, but Andrea was probably the one that I wanted approval from the most.

"So what brings you here Travis?" Andrea asked as we sat down on the couch, and I smiled nervously as I twisted my hands together.

"Well you know how Taylor and I are starting to shoot the music video tomorrow?" I started, and Andrea nodded along. "She's the professional so she's designed the scenes once we talked about what we wanted, but I asked her if I could do the final one as a surprise to her. I've been working with the set designers to make a secret set Taylor doesn't know about yet, and during the last scene of the shoot..." I reached into my pocket, took out the black ring box, and placed it on the couch between us. "I want to propose to her."

There was silence for a long moment as Andrea looked down at the ring box, and then looked up at me. Her eyes were full of tears, lips trembling slightly as she pressed them together. I swallowed nervously as I waited, the silence stretching on.

"I..." I cleared my throat. "I know that Taylor and I haven't been together an awfully long time, but I think it's the right time and I really know I want to spend the rest of my life with her. I love your daughter more than anything in the world and I want to ask for your blessing to ask her to marry me."

"Oh, Travis." Andrea breathed, reaching out and resting a hand on my arm. "That's so perfect. Taylor will absolutely love that, and of course you can have my blessing to ask her. I know she loves you the way you love her, and she'll absolutely love being proposed to that way."

I smiled, and Andrea moved close to hug me tightly. A relieved warmth rushed through me at the confirmation that she was on board. I hadn't thought she would be anything but overjoyed, but it was a relief nonetheless. Taylor was the one and only love of my life, and I wanted nothing more than to ask her to be mine forever. I had no doubt she'd say yes, but god asking her was the most terrifying part out of all of this.

I didn't stay long, taking a flight back to New Yok before the evening turned dark. Taylor had been a little busy with meetings and studio sessions while I'd been gone, and she was under the impression that I had gone back to Kansas City for a guys weekend. Some of my friends had agreed to cover for me if Taylor asked them since I wanted to keep the proposal a surprise, but I was pretty sure she wouldn't feel the need to think I'd lied to her. I never lied to her, and this was only to surprise her.

Her apartment smelled like warm sugar and crackling fire when I unlocked the front door, and my shoulders immediately relaxed knowing that I was home. Taylor and I had found it hard to move in together since we were both all over the place, so we moved between her apartment in New York and my house in Kansas City quite often. We went wherever it was most convenient, and that worked for us. I was so glad to be home.
