Taylor's POV

"Okay, that's it for today." I dismissed the meeting with a wave of my hand. "Have a good weekend."

Gentle murmurs spread over the room as all of my interns got up, stretching out their arms. It wasn't often I had the time to take the interns myself, but for once my workload wasn't too bad and I'd jumped at the opportunity. I always wanted to see who was joining my company.

As everyone filed out, thanking me for the day, a few men who looked just older than me walked into the room. I eyed them as they laughed loudly, hands stuffed into pockets, heads thrown back. Some of my staff weren't the most pleasant people in the world, but they were good at their job. These were probably the newer hires that I hadn't met yet.

"Oh, good." The man in front clicked his fingers at me and I raised my eyebrows. "Some coffee while we're waiting for the boss would be great doll. Four blacks, no sugar." He glanced at the other three to confirm. I assessed them for a moment, wondering how the hell they didn't know. "Well?" The man clicked his fingers at me again. "Do they pay you to sit there?"

"Of course not." I said sweetly, deciding to play along for now as I got to my feet. "My apologies sir. I'll get that right away for you."

"Good." He huffed as I closed my files, moving out of the room down to the kitchen. Asshole. I'd show him.

Once I had the four drinks, I took them back to the meeting room and placed them down on the table. The four men were sat back in their chosen chairs, talking loudly, barely glancing up at me as I set a coffee down in front of each of them. Once I had, the first man looked over at me and flicked his hand in a submissive gesture.

"Thanks doll, but you might want to run along now. We're meeting with the boss and he might not be happy to hear one of his assistants is lacking."

"I'm sure." I smiled sweetly, glancing over at the door as it opened and my assistant came in. "Oh Georgia, thank you." I said gratefully as she handed me the files on each of the men in front of me.

"Do you need anything else Miss Swift?" She asked.

"No, this is great thanks." I smiled at her. "Why don't you start your weekend early huh? I can finish up for today."

"Great, thanks!" Georgia smiled. "See you Monday."

I smiled and nodded, moving back to my seat and sitting down as I tapped the files into place. All four men stared at me in silence as I took my time, making them wait. Eventually, I put them down and looked up.

"Well, thank you for being on time at least." I said. "I'm Miss Swift, and I don't appreciate your blatant sexism and disregard for a woman just because you think the boss is a man."

The meeting sucked because all four men were trying so hard to apologize, and I wasn't taking any of their shit. I let them try and talk their way out of it, but in the end I decided to pass on the first guy and give the other three a chance. They hadn't really done anything, and even though I hired people based on ability, I wasn't going to keep someone who treated me like that when he didn't know who I was. Who knew what he'd say to others.

As the first man protested about being taken off the list to be considered, the door behind me opened again. I turned and smiled when I saw my five year old daughter peeking in at me, her long blonde hair and bright blue eyes a fraction more grown up than when I'd last seen her. She looked in nervously, but I held out my hand.

"It's okay Lia, you can come in." I told her and Ophelia giggled, scampering across the room and climbing up into my lap.

"Hi mommy." She threw her arms around my neck.
