Travis' POV
"Hey, there he is!" Patrick smiled when I opened the door.
"Hey, come in." I moved aside to let the three guys past. It was nice to see them again, since I'd been travelling around a little bit with Taylor on tour in private and I'd only just got back. Wanting to catch up, I'd invited over a bunch of guys from the team.
"Finally off the hook with that woman huh?" Trent clapped me on the shoulder as I closed the door, and everyone laughed.
"What?" I frowned.
"You know, she's finally loosened the reins." He joked. "Let you come home. Honestly, we thought she'd never give you back."
I smiled to be polite, but I didn't really appreciate the joke. I let it go as we all went outside to the firepit where the ten or so other guys were hanging out, talking and drinking. We settled in, catching up, conversations bouncing over each other as the evening darkened. It was nice to see everyone again, and I felt good as I chatted with them, going through a few drinks.
"So, Travis." Matt leaned forwards. "How's it with the popstar? She suck as good as she sings?"
"Dude." I frowned at him. "Is that all you think about?"
"Well who wouldn't if you bagged a chick like that?" He laughed, and a few others joined in. "But seriously, is it still going on with you two?"
"Yeah, why wouldn't it?"
"I don't know, we just thought she'd be over you by now. You know how she goes through guys." Matt shrugged as he sat back, picking up his beer.
"I heard she boned that band guy a week after she stopped seeing that other guy." Harrison commented.
"Shut up, that's not true." Patrick countered.
"Guys can we not?" I didn't like the way they talked about Taylor. What I had with her was special, and we kept it hidden because that's what we wanted.
"But seriously, when are you dumping the woman? She's way more trouble than she's worth."
"I know right? Travis we're just saying it because we're your friends, but she's probably cheating on you right now."
"She's really fake, I swear."
"I mean you got pussy right? You can give up on her now."
"I saw this clip of her and god she just records herself in autotune, doesn't even sing live, it's so stupid."
Every time I opened my mouth to defend my girlfriend, they just kept going. I didn't know what was going on; they'd seemed supportive before now. But suddenly they were throwing insults like Taylor had personally murdered their whole family, and I was in shock. These were my friends.
"What the hell is wrong with you guys?" I snapped, and everyone looked at me. "Taylor's..." A flash of blonde caught my eye and I looked over to see Taylor vanishing from the glass doors that stood open like she was running away.
"Fuck man you didn't tell us she was here!" Someone said.
"You're a dick." Patrick snapped.
I didn't respond. I was up and rushing after her, wishing to hell my friends would have the good sense to leave now. Going inside, I went down to my bedroom and opened the door. The room was empty, but I could hear pained sobs coming from my ensuite.
"Baby?" I paused in the doorway. Taylor was curled up in the corner, hair messy from sleep, wearing one of my shirts and sweatpants, crying with her legs tucked up to her chest. "Baby." I whispered, kneeling in front of her.
