Travis' POV

There was an insistent ache in my temple as I woke up, and fuck, it hurt like hell. I groaned, dragging my eyelids back to be met with the sight of a small hospital room in front of me.

I didn't remember how the hell I got here, only that I must have gotten really rucking hurt. I couldn't remember shit.

"Hey, hey baby." A soft hand touched my cheek and I flinched in surprise, flicking my eyes over to the right to see a blonde woman sitting next to me, bags under her bright blue eyes and wearing a Kansas City Chiefs hoodie that was far too big for her.

Holy shit. That was Taylor Swift. My eyes widened in shock when I realized that the biggest star in the world was in my room, smiling at me, with her hand cupping my jaw tenderly. And wasn't that my hoodie she was wearing? I recognized it. And had she just called me baby?

"Am I dead?" I blurted out, and the blonde laughed, shaking her head at me almost fondly. What the fuck was going on?

"No, but you really scared me there for a second Travis." Taylor told me, and my eyes widened further. Taylor Swift knew my name. This surely couldn't get any weirder.

But then it did. Taylor leaned in, her eyes soft and adoring, and she fucking kissed me. She pressed her lips against mine like she really had been worried, like she was so glad I was okay.

"Whoah!" I immediately pushed her away, and Taylor blinked at me like she was confused. "Look." I said gently. "You're amazing, but I have a girlfriend." Then I spotted the diamond ring nestled on her fingers. "And it looks like you're engaged. So I don't know what you think you're doing."

My first thought was to wonder at how long I'd been out. Because last I'd heard, Taylor Swift wasn't engaged. And I was still very confused as to why she was here. Super famous artists didn't have the time to hang out in hospitals with injured NFL players like me.

"Travis." Taylor giggled nervously. "You're just fucking with me right?"

"Why would I be fucking with you?" I frowned. "Where's Kayla?" At my words, Taylor went white and her body stilled slightly. I blinked at her as she swallowed, dropping her hand from my face.

"Travis?" She breathed. "What date do you think it is right now?"

"What kind of question is that?" I laughed, but Taylor was staring at me insistently so I searched my brain. "Umm, well the last I remember was the fourth of July, I was at a family thing. But I don't know how long I've been here."

"What year?"

"Excuse me?"

"What year?" Taylor demanded in a shaky voice, tears filling her wide, blue eyes. I shook my head at her, only getting more confused. Where was Kayla, and why had I woken up with Taylor Swift sitting next to me?

"2021." I told her.

Taylor's face crumpled, hands moving up to cover her mouth like she was holding back sobs. Confused but wanting to comfort her, I reached out and rubbed her shoulder gently. I felt a twinge of familiarity at the small motion and frowned, but I had no idea why. I had so many damn questions.

"Oh, Travis." Taylor finally whispered, dropping her hands from her mouth into her lap. "It's not. It's January Travis, 2025."

"Yeah, right." I laughed. Maybe Kayle had decided to try and play the biggest prank in the world on me. It was a good one; I'd admit that.

But Taylor didn't laugh. She started to cry, silent tears dripping down her cheeks, and I stopped laughing almost immediately. Taylor sniffed, taking out her phone and tapping twice on the screen before turning around to show me. The date read January 20th, 2025, but that wasn't what my eyes caught on. My gaze fixed on the picture Taylor had set as her lockscreen.
