Personal Imagine for @/i_love_ashtonirwin_12 on IG
I rub the sweaty palms of my hands onto the skirt of my dress, cursing silently that I may ruin the short, high necked, white and lace dress. I'd seen it in a store window a few weeks ago and had no desire to buy it, but as soon as Ashton Irwin asked me to prom, I practically ran to the store and bought it immediately.
It fit like a glove. It clung to all of the right areas of my body, and didn't feel too short as I carefully walked down the stairs in a pair of white peep toe heels. My breathing seemed to deepen as I neared the end of my descent, and I knew Ashton would be waiting with my parents in the living room. Double checking my appearance in the hallway mirror, I tuck away some stray hairs that have come out of my up-do and make sure none of my makeup has smudged, before entering the living room.
"Darling you look amazing!"
"My little girl, all grown up."
I smile and I can feel my cheeks grow pink in embarrassment from being on the spot by parents. I always find it so uncomfortable receiving compliments.
"Wow."
I look over at Ashton - who is standing off to the side - to see him wide eyed and slack mouthed as he takes in my appearance. It's definitely a change from my school uniform. I don't know how to respond as I shyly smile at him, admiring his lean body in black skinny jeans, a loose dark grey top and black suit blazer, a black fedora atop of his wavy hair and he looks effortlessly beautiful.
"I could say the same to you."
He cheekily smiles and shakes his head, a slight giggle coming out of his mouth and I become instantly happy at the sound. He seems to have that effect on people. He steps towards me, reaching into his jacket pocket as my parents watch our exchange, and he removes a small, black, velvet covered box.
"You never came across to me as the corsage type," he clicks open the box, showing me a beautiful and delicate rose gold bracelet with a heart charm on it, "so I thought this would be a lot better. It will last as well, so you'll always be able to have something to remind you of tonight."
"Ashton, wow, thank you," he removes it from the box, his long fingers placing it around my wrists and softly stroking the skin there, "Its beautiful."
"Pictures!"
I groan at my parents enthusiasm and Ashton wraps an arm around my body, holding me close to his side as I play with the jewellery on my wrist.
After what felt like an entire photo shoot, I finally convinced my parents to give up on the pictures so that we could get going to prom and not end up being late.
We exchange laid back, funny conversation on the drive to the hall and I never realised just how easy it is to be around him. He's intimidatingly good looking, but his nerdy sense of humour balances him out to become this sweet natured guy that I've never really gotten to see before.
He opens my car door, assisting me on getting out of my seat, and even offers his arm to escort me into the venue. From the outside, it seems dull and lifeless, and - if it wasn't for the copious amount of cars - i would believe we're at the wrong place.
"This is so exciting," I chirp and i can feel him staring at the side of my face, but i try to block it out as we enter the hall where music flows through the air and couples and groups dance all across the floor.
Strings of lights hang all over the ceiling, draping down to look magical and beautiful. Everything this dance is going to be.
"Care to dance?" Ashton offers his hand and mimics the kind of Princes you get in Disney films, and i blush and courtesy in agreement to encourage his façade.
He leads me out to the middle of the dance floor, finding our own spot where people wont bash elbows with us, and he pulls me close to him as i realise 'Marry Me' by Train begins playing in the background. A slow, romantic song that gets me feeling more nervous as the song starts up.
"If i ever get the nerve to say hello in this café, say you will marry me," Ashton sings softly as he dances us from side to side, our bodies close together as I lean my head on his shoulder and he continues to coo the lyrics under his breath.
The song is coming to an unfortunate end and I stand up straight to look at Ashton, listening to each word he slowly sings, and i wish the song could last longer for us to enjoy this moment a bit longer. As the last few notes are being played, Ashton smiles down at me and I immediately return it, and he slowly leans down to a press a chaste kiss to my lips that gets my heart beating a million miles an hour.
"I'm really glad you said yes."
