Second Date

You lie in bed, its late on a Saturday night. You're wearing your pyjamas, your hair tied up, texting Calum. You two haven't made it official as of yet, well your first date was only last weekend, he mentioned wanting to go on a second one but he hasn't instigated any plans and you don't want to seem like his mates annoying little sister, pushing him to go on another date with you.

Calum: What are you doing tomorrow?

Finally, you thought, he's going to ask you for that second date! Its about damn time.

Y/N: Nothing, really. You?

Playing it cool, you don't want to scare him off. Plus having no plans will mean he's more likely to have the date tomorrow, as opposed to having to reschedule for a different day.

Calum: Oh cool, Yeah me too. Might go see the lads or something. Anyway, its getting late babe, you should get going to bed, night x

What the hell?! He had an open window why didn't he take the opportunity and ask you out again, damnit!

Putting your phone on charge, not even bothering to reply, you get under the covers of your bed and snuggle down into the pillow, releasing a frustrated puff of air at the situation you're in. You lay there for what seems like hours, but its only 15 minutes when you hear taps against your window. Shit, you've seen this happen in both horror films and romance films, you're praying for the latter because you're really not in the mood to be a damsel in distress, with some sadistic killer trying to grab you, because the roles will reverse and you will make that little bitch scream in pain.

With your heat practically beating out of your chest, you slowly raise from your bed and begin to walk towards the window, only to see Calum stood in your front yard, throwing stones at your window. Even though you should be thinking how romantic and adorable this situation is, you cant help but think its slightly tacky and cliché, rocks at a window in the dead of night? How original Calum.

You open the window harshly, making the wooden panes bang against one another, making enough noise to wake your entire house, but you don't care about that.

"What the hell are you doing?!" You angrily whisper to him before adding "You could have broken my damn window Calum" He looks up at your apologetically.

"Sorry Y/N, I wasn't aware I was throwing them that hard, plus I thought you was asleep and I needed you to answer me." He whispers back loud enough for you to here. You roll your eyes at his stupidity.

"You do know I have a phone right? Its this small device which you can use to communicate to other people? We was using it less than half an hour ago Calum" you say to him sarcastically, making it clear that his romantic gesture is lost with you. He shakes his head at what you're saying, before letting out an exasperated sound from his lips.

"I was trying to be bloody romantic Y/N. You said you wasn't busy tomorrow, so I thought we could go on that second date you promised me. Like now" he asks frustratedly. Your eyes open wide, you feel like such a dick. No matter how cheesy the moment is, you cant help but get butterflies at his sweet gesture of wanting to go out with you so badly on a second date, that he couldn't wait until day light. He quickly adds "So, if you would please get changed and come down, were really running out of time and need to get going. Oh and bring a blanket."

Okay then, you nod your head to let him know you're on your way, closing the window and rushing around your room trying to make yourself look presentable. Putting on a pair of jeans you'd left on your bedroom floor and one of your hoodies, you looked in the mirror deciding if it would be noticeable if you put some make-up on before you left, you didn't really want Calum to see you bare faced but would he think it weird if you randomly went to bed with a full face of make-up on? As you're contemplating the options, your phone vibrates on your end table with a text from Calum.

Calum: Don't bother putting on make-up and thinking you need to look Oscar worthy okay? You're beautiful no matter what.

You cant help but smile at the message he sent you, automatically lifting your spirits and making your decision that you're ready to go on your second date with him. No more than a minute passes before you receive another text from him.

Calum: Plus I saw you throw up at the arcade that one time and you looked terrible then so doubt you can look as bad as that again ;)

That cheeky little shit. You cant help but laugh in disbelief at his words, shaking your head, you put your feet into your Vans and make your way to the front door, grabbing your house keys and locking the door behind you.

"So I looked terrible did I?" you say to Calum as soon as you're out of the door, crossing your arms over your chest and raising an eyebrow at him. He smirks at you, raising his shoulders in a half shrug, before laughing at you.

"You looked sickly beautiful?" he responds, trying to lighten the situation, as if his small amount of wit will get him out of trouble with you.

"You know I can go back inside I don't need to go on a second date with you" you say in a teasing manner. You begin to slowly back up towards the door, whilst maintaining eye contact with him. The smile still hasn't faltered from his face, in fact it grows as he knows you would never do that to him.

"You're always beautiful, babe. Don't ever forget that." he says to you in a calm and reassuring tone. Hearing compliments from him literally make your world flip upside down and your heart beat wildly in your chest.

"Lets go, dork." You say to him as you walk towards his car, a small smile creeping across your lips. He opens the door for you, helping you into the car. He turns on the ignition, the engine roaring to life under the hood of his dads old pick up truck. He begins to drive to the out skirts of town, passing wooded land and towards some fields, you look at him with a confused expression and curiosity lacing your features, only for him to shoot down any questions you have before you even open your mouth.

You arrive to a small open field, parking up in the middle of it, Calum looks across to you winking and smiling before getting out. You follow his lead, unsure of what exactly is going on. He climbs into the back of the pick up truck and offers you his hand to pull you up beside him. Once your both stood, he takes the blanket from your hands and lays it down on the floor of the truck, taking you down with him. With one arm wrapped around your shoulder, stroking your arm and your head against his chest you both lay there talking, star gazing and enjoying each others company.

"I really like you, Y/N" Calum whispers into your ear as he kisses your hair.

"I really like you too, Calum" You whisper back, looking back up at him. He puts his index finger under your chin, gently pulling you towards him so that he can catch your lips in a brief and gentle kiss. As he pulls away, he kisses your forehead.

"Will you be my girlfriend?" He nervously asks you. You lightly blush pink, biting your lower lip to prevent a gigantic grin to cover your face, you nod your head agreeing to finally be with the guy in your dreams.
