Pick your boy

Closing my eyes, I sit in the terrifying silence of my own bedroom. Days previous, it held laughter and careful whispers, loving sounds and cheerful moments. Now it's empty.
Trying to grasp onto the few happy memories I can, I feel them slowly slip between my fingers as they leave me just like you.
You walked out and let me stranded, lonely and on my own like a castaway on an island with no hopes of survival.
Snapping my eyes open in the darkening room, I stare at the empty photo frames that once held pictures of the two of us.
Why did you empty them? Why not leave me with the memories that we once cherished? Instead of ripping them away from me.
You closed the book of our lives shut, ended it part way through a chapter without any possibilities of it being continued. You ended us as fast as we fell, like a tragic crash or sinking ship.
There's no ever after to young love, but my naivety got the better of me. One day could be so pure and beautiful, the next bleak and miserable, and it's something I have to deal with. It's just a shame it was caused by the heartbreak I can't escape. You.
