Tapping my pencil on my desk, I impatiently wait for the drawl of my teacher to finish and for him to dismiss us. It's been one of those days that has constantly dragged from start to finish, and I'm desperate to go home and watch Netflix with copious amounts of junk food.
"So, to conclude-" his droning voice that resembles a vacuum cleaner comes to a halt with the shrill sound of the bell, the scraping of chairs against the floor and chatter from all of the students, "homework due Monday!"
I roll my eyes at the dreaded thought of homework, throwing my things in my bag and carrying it out of the room at the back of the herd of students.
I make my way down the busy corridor towards my friends locker, knowing Lea won't be there yet and she will be late as always.
Tapping away on my phone as I wait, I feel a presence next to me and assume Lea has arrived.
"About time," I complain, looking to my left to be met with bright blues eyes and a confused expression.
"I wasn't aware you'd been waiting for me, princess," he winks, a smirk pulling on his lips as I stare at him like a deer in the headlights.
"Umm, I meant someone else?" The statement comes out as more of a question, and it causes him to chuckle at my reaction.
"Y/n. What are you doing?" Lea stands in the middle of the corridor, hands on her hips with her brows raised.
"Umm, waiting for you?" I push myself away from the locker, and feel my arm being tugged on gently by the guy I had been somewhat interacting with.
"See you around, princess," he winks again and walks away from us, Lea left standing wide eyed and open mouthed. Over exaggerated shock.
"Let me guess; school bad boy and I should stay away from me because he's 'bad news' and will 'only hurt' me?" I sarcastically remark, subtly checking out the tall blonde that's making his way through the thinning crowd with a small group of friends.
"Actually, I was gonna say that's Luke Hemmings and you should hop on that!" She cheers, and I look at her with a baffled expression, "what? He's hot! He doesn't show much interest in us mere mortals, when he's a God with his own rules."
I shake my head and chuckle, pulling her along by her arm to follow me out of the school.
"If he ever remembers this mere mortal," I gesture to myself with a laugh before continuing, "I will be sure to 'hop on that'. Though, I'm sure I'll be just another face in the crowd if he's as worshipped as you think."
"Maybe. Maybe not," she winks, the topic being dropped as we continue our walk home.

It's been almost a week, and Luke Hemmings has definitely not remembered me. Girls gawk at him in school, and he winks at several and ignores the rest. I'm part of the ignored crowd, and I wish that I didn't care.
"Are you ok?" Lea quizzes me as I fiddle my fingers together and my leg bops up and down under the table.
"Yeah, tests make me nervous," I quietly state and she shrugs, throwing her food away before gesturing for me to follow her.
"I'm sure you'll ace it, it's not as if it's formal or counting to anything. Just the teacher being a dick," she grumbles, a light laugh leaving my lips as we file into the class and we take our seats in nearby rows.
"You have the entire period to complete the test. All unanswered questions are immediately marked as wrong, and you can't have any extra time," our teacher calls, marching along the front of the class with a stack of papers in his hand, "paper remains face down until-"
He's cut off by the door banging open and hitting the wall, a tall blonde standing in the door way with a dazzling smile on his pink lips.
"Mr Hemmings, you're late," the teacher states obviously, rolling his eyes as Luke mutters a lame apology before sliding down the rows of desks and settling down at the back, "as I was saying, papers down until I say so."
He hands everyone of us a paper, leaving them face down on the desk so that we can't mentally prepare answers or start it a little early.
I look to my right to see Lea grinning at me, giving me a thumbs up which I return, and she subtly nudges her head to behind me. I turn slightly to see Luke grinning at me and sat in the desk right behind me.
I face the front of the room, face flushing red and feeling warm. Barely know the guy and he gives me this kind of reaction? Pathetic.
"Begin."
I flip the paper over, choosing to put my focus on the test and answering as many questions as I can.
Barely half way through the first and I can feel something tap my shoulder. By something, I mean someone.
"Princess?" I hear the low voice whisper, his voice soft and trying to gain my attention which I refuse to give him.
He stops after a few minutes, hopefully giving up so I can focus on the next lot of questions. I begin to read the next sentence when I feel something hit the back of my head, a wad of paper falling on the floor by my feet.
Lea notices the disturbance, confusing on her face as she sees me becoming slightly annoyed by Luke behind me.
"Princess?"
"What?" I almost shout, my voice a lot louder in the silence of the room and with my irritation mixed in.
Almost everyone in the room is looking at us, Luke smirking at me and his blue eyes looking right into mine.
"Both of you, out of my class," I groan, gathering my things and standing up as he continues, "detention tomorrow."
I grab a detention slip as I leave, marching away from the class room and hearing converse clad feet heavily following behind as he runs to catch up to me.
"Princess-"
"Leave me alone," I grit, not really in the mood for his charming personality.
"I didn't mean to get you into trouble," he sounds sincere, his arm pulling me back and preventing me from stepping out of the exit and into the outside world.
"Well, you did, so thanks," I shrug, sarcastically smiling at him.
"You know, all I was trying to do was get my pen from under your chair, you kinda brought it on yourself," he has a shit eating grin on his face as he shrugs back at me, and I have to hold back the animalistic growl inside of me. Damn, he's hot and annoying.
"Whatever, Luke."
"You know my name?" He raises one eye brow in confusion, and he looks almost shocked to know that I know his name.
"Umm, yes? You're Luke Hemmings. Most popular guy in the school and the guy who only stays with those he knows," I refer to his small posse that he is never usually without.
"And you're the new girl that no one will tell me about," he mutters, brow furrowed as he stares at my face, "tell me your name."
"No," I point blank refuse and he smirks a little, shaking his head as a small laugh escapes.
"You're stubborn."
"I'm sorry I'm not willing to bend over backwards for the great Luke Hemmings."
"I like that," he smiles soft and genuine, eyes cast downwards as he becomes almost shy with talking to me, "you seem like the kind of girl that would put me in my place. Not like the others."
"Accurate," I remark, a small pushing its way on to my lips and I have to force it back, "y/n."
He looks up, wide eyed and happy when I tell him my name.
"Y/n," he says quietly, letting the name roll around his tongue, "I still like princess."
"Oh god," I laugh and he joins in, me remarking him as incredibly cheesy which causes him to laugh harder.
"I'm still sorry about detention," he says, taking the conversation back to a serious note, and I shrug.
"It's whatever. New girl had to get detention at some point."
"How about I cut you a deal?" I gesture for him to continue as my interested is peaked, "we have detention tomorrow, then I take you out. Like, on a date. And as an apology. An apology date. Not a pity date. Just, like, a date."
"You ramble way too much," I laugh, admiring the way his cheeks go a light pink with embarrassment, "I'd love to go on a date with you."
"Really?"
"Really," I nod, chuckling again at his flustered state, "I need to go, but I'll see you in detention."
"See you in detention, princess."
