You tie your hair up atop of your head, practically ragging out of the roots because you’re frustrated. You and Mikey have been arguing for the better part of an hour now and you’re beginning to feel defeated, but you also don’t want to give into him, you’re both as stubborn as each other and tonight you’ve both proven it.
“I just can’t believe you, Mikey. This is the third time it’s happened!” You yell at him as you walk through the house, making your way upstairs into your bedroom.
“Second time actually!” He retorts, causing you to groan out in frustration. You spin around to face him, his anger matching yours.
“You shouldn’t have even done it the first time! What kind of defence is that?!” You scream at him, he doesn’t flinch when your voice raises, he just closes his and inhales deeply before responding to you.
“You’re making me out to be a worse person than I actually am, Y/N.” He states through clenched teeth, he’s clearly trying to calm himself down, but you know how he works and he’s going to snap soon enough.
“That’s because you’re a bad person Mikey. No boyfriend would do that to the girl they claim to love.” You match his tone, adding an air of nonchalance just to make it hit him harder. Which it does.
“Well I’m sorry I can’t be your Mr Fucking Perfect, Y/N!” He screams at you and you can see the veins in his neck become more prominent the louder he becomes. “I’ve made mistakes, yeah I get that, but I still love you regardless of them!”
“Bullshit!” You laugh without humour, beginning to get tired of his repetitive excuses. “You don’t tell someone you love them, then cheat on them. More than once!” Your throat is becoming sore from the excessive shouting and screaming going both ways.
“I’ve said sorry a hundred times! What more do you want from me?”
“I want you gone!” You yell at him, stopping him from replying to you. He clearly wasn’t expecting that as a response, thinking you would take him back just like the other times, but this time is different. You’re exhausted and this relationship is killing you both.
“What?” He asks, his voice breaking midway and you know that either one, or both of you, will be crying within minutes. “No.”
“Yes. Mikey, we keep doing this. It’s a viscous circle and I’m tired. We can’t keep doing this, it’s unhealthy and not fair on either of us. It’s not fair on me.” As you end your sentence, you let your first tear fall down your cheek. His eyes never falter from your eyes as he struggles to find words to defend himself and beg you not to end this.
“We can work it out.”
“We always say we can work it out, but we never can. If we could then we wouldn’t be in this position yet again.”
“I’m sorry, I’m really sorry. Ill change I promise.” He begins to sob, tears rolling down his face and you can feel your heart breaking at the shattered person standing in front of you. He falls to his knees in front of you, begging you that he’s sorry and pleading for another chance that you don’t know if you can give him. “Please let me change. I need you. I love you. I’m sorry.”
You step towards him and run your hands through his messy hair in an attempt to calm him down. He reaches up and puts his arms around your body, before burying his face in your stomach as he cries out loud, not worrying about how weak he looks in front of you.
“Please. Please. Please.” He mumbles into your body, the sounds muffled from your clothing. You reach your free hand up and wipe away a stray tear, trying to compose yourself and be strong, but you never can when it comes to him.
“Ok.” You say, your voice barely audible but he hears you. Pulling away slightly and looking up at you from the ground, he looks at you like you’ve just answered all of his prayers.
“Really?” He asks, hopeful that he heard correctly and that you’re not just saying it to give him a false sense of security before trying to break it off again.
“Yeah. But you need to know Mikey, that, if it happens again, I’ll be out of that door. No more chances, no more I love yous, no more tears because I can’t take it anymore.” You sob as he stands to his full height. He pulls you in closely and holds you tight so there’s no room for escape.
“I won’t need another chance, I promise. There will only be tears of happiness from now on and an I love you every day, because I do love you, Y/N. I love you so damn much.”
