You anxiously wait in line, your feet causing your whole body to bob up and down in anticipation. You tried again and again to be here, never quite succeeding until you won a radio competition. The competition that changed your entire life. Or, so you like to think it will.
Girls screaming, singing or chanting for the boys. Ash girls, Mikey girls, Luke girls, and many Calum girls that you felt exceeded you in numerous ways, yet you still had hope that Calum would spot you out of everyone. You'd be the one who would linger on the edges of his mind as he performed or spoke to someone.
"Now, girls, I need you all to remain calm," at the security guards voice, several high pitched and excited screams sounded from around you, and you flinched at the level of the sound right next to your ears, "welcome to the stage; Michael, Ashton, Calum and Luke!"
Cheers and screams resounding from you and your fellow fangirls hits the boys, and they only react positive to the sound. They all have beaming grins on their faces, eyes sparkling with happiness as they look out to the crowd of - what you assume they see - faceless girls.
"Hello!" Ash yells into a mic, the girls going even crazier for his tanned, muscular arms being shown in a tank and his hair messy on his shoulders.
"They all seem very excited," Calum chuckles into the mic, his captivating smile causing you to lose your breath momentarily as you block out the rest of the sound around you.
You just stand and listen, hearing every little break in his voice or the sweet escape of breathy laughter into the speaker system.
"If everyone remains calm," a security guard announces, ushering everyone to shut up, and my attention is still pinned to an oblivious Calum, "the boys would love to do an impromptu meet with you all before they do an acoustic."
Girls squealed and held onto each other, double checking their appearances in their front view camera, and I thought my own legs were going to buckle under my weight.
The boys all formed a line on the same levelling flooring as you all, girls being escorted to each and everyone of them to get autographs or pictures.
You looked down at your empty hands in disappointment. Even though you knew about today, you didn't exactly come prepared. You brought no paper or pen, not even your phone.
"Fuck," you mutter, face palming at your realisation of the situation.
"Excuse me?" Your attention is diverted to a member of security who is letting you know it's your turn to go up.
With shaky hands and wobbly legs, you slowly follow him to the end of the - now structured -queue to await your turn.
"Hi, what's your name love?" Ashton chirps, his excitement contagious as you grin back at him.
"Ellen, hi," he pulls you into a hug, the comforting feeling warming you and it's a loss as he pulls away from you.
"No autographs or pictures?" You shake your head and he looks at you in astonishment, "didn't expect that, bit different," he chuckles, and you just shrug your shoulders as he pulls you into another hug, "thank you for coming today."
You're then ushered into Luke, as girls are beginning to get impatient with how long you're spending with them all, and you're then passed onto Mikey and - finally - Calum.
"Hey gorgeous," he grins cheekily at you, the sight causing your heart beat to stutter -along with your speech.
"H-hi," he smiles more at your nerves, slowly engulfing you in a tight, warm hug that you wished to never end.
"I'm Calum," he chuckles in your ear, and you let a slight giggle escape at his introduction.
"I know. I'm Ellen," you softly reply, and he squeezes you tighter before letting go.
"Fancy a picture?" He offers, and your face drops slightly.
"Actually, I forgot my camera," you cringe at the one job you had today and managing to screw it up.
"No problem," he grins again, the familiar sight warming your insides, and he pulls his phone from his pocket, "come here," he gestures for you to get under his arm, his arm wrapping around shoulders and pulling you into his side as you both smile at the phone screen showing the two of you.
"I'll tweet it. Then you have it from me personally," he winks at you, and you heart flutters again at the small gesture.
"Thank you, that means a lot," you gush, watching him tap away on his phone as he sends it out in a tweet.
"No worries, all done. Hopefully I'll see you around, Ellen," he winks again, pulling you into another hug as he kisses your cheek goodbye.
