"Every damn time Luke!"
You scream at the top of your voice. The sound causing your throat to burn - as well as the pressure of unshed tears clogs your throat.
"Stop getting on at me!" He rages at you, veins popping out of his neck as his face tinges red with anger.
The pair of you never argue, but since he came back from tour, it seems to be the only thing the two of you do. Screaming matches during your favourite TV show, snide comments when you're out for dinner, or a full blown argument with tears right before bed - like now.
"You know what? Fuck you Luke. Want me to stop getting on at you? I will. In fact, I don't want to be anywhere near you right now."
You storm off to the closet at the end of the hall, dragging a blanket and a pillow out before throwing them at him as he looks at you dumbfounded.
"What the hell?"
"Stay on the couch. I'm got bed."
You turn on your heel and proceed down the hall to your bedroom, slamming the door in the process and then falling face first onto your bed as you silently cry yourself to sleep.

You wake up with sweat drenching your hot body, your chest rising and falling rapidly as you think of the horrific dream - no, night mare - that just woke you from what you wanted to be a peaceful.
You blindly reach over for Luke - your safe haven that can comfort you during moments like this - only to come across cold sheets and disappointment.
It takes a few minutes for it to dawn on you what happened before you fell asleep. The arguing and the tears.
Reluctantly, you step out of the bed and slowly manoeuvre around the dark room to find the door.
Stepping down the dark hall, you can see a small pool of light coming from the living room where you left Luke earlier. It illuminates his sad, sleeping features as he's curled up in a ball on the sofa with a blanket loosely hanging on him.
You almost don't want to disturb him, but you also can't stand the animosity between the two of you or the lack of sleep on your part.
You step forward into the room, gently pressing your foot to a floorboard that squeaks and disrupts Luke.
"Ava? What are you doing?" His deep, rough voice whispers as he rubs his eyes to adjust to the small amount of light in the room.
"Ummm-" you start, not sure on how to break the ice with him, "I couldn't sleep."
You chew on your lip, nervously playing with your finger tips and you hear him softly beckon you over to him.
He pulls you down onto the sofa, wrapping the excess blanket around your body before pulling you flush against him so his body can keep you warm.
"Better?" He coos, resting your head under his chin so that you can both lay comfortably considering his height.
"Much."
You not lay in silence for a while, just hearing your slow, deep breaths as you both feel content in the moment, until Luke interrupts.
"I'm sorry."
"Me too."
"No. It's all my fault. I keep pushing for an argument. I forget how things work when I'm away, and I expect everything to stop just because I'm not here," he rushes out, and you feel almost to blame for how he feels.
"I'm sorry you feel that way, I truly do. I forget that you need to adjust from being on the road for so long. I should be more understanding."
"How about we agree we're both in the wrong?" He chuckles and you nod your head against his chest, quietly giggling along with him, "I love you."
"I love you, too," you murmur as you begin to fall back into a blissful sleep.
