Personal imagine for IG user @/nadinee.zjm

You sat by the warm, glowing fire - the only company you have being your best friend Calum.
"I can't wait to get out of this town," you hear him muse from beside you, poking marshmallows onto a stick so he could turn them gooey over the open fire.
As he openly admitted this, you couldn't help the pit of your stomach falling to the ground and no doubt burning away in the hot embers of the fire.
"Same," you morbidly agree, not caring for where you are, but sort of wishing it was with him.
"Different people, different life. It will be awesome," he stupidly grins, watching the flames dance around in front of him and talking as if you're not here. If he had, he would have seen the saddened look on your face and your want for reassurance and comfort.
You don't tag on how you feel, nor do you encourage the conversation, he gladly takes it upon himself to big up how great his new lifestyle will be. The one without you in it.
"I just keep thinking of what it will be like, to wake up on the other side of the world and how different everything will be. Apparently, the water in the toilet flushes the opposite way! So crazy," he chuckles, a dumbfounded look on his face that you really don't want to crush. He looks so happy, and then there's you.
"Nadine?"
"Hmmm?" You look up from the glowing, orange flames that had attracted your attention to distract you from Calums words, and you feel guilty for being caught in the act.
"You look kinda lost," he grins, white teeth showing in the dark with his beautiful tanned skin, "everything ok?"
You run every scenario through your head, the ways in how everything could go wrong - or right - and what you should do next.
"No. Not really," you start, and his face instantly drops when he sees the glossy look in your eyes.
"Hey, don't cry, what's wrong?" He begins to worry, scooting across the log so he is closer to you and he can wrap an arm around you body - which you decline by moving away from him and his expression is full of hurt, "did I do something?"
"No. That's the problem," you sniffle, pulling you jumper sleeves over your hand to dry the year tracks on your face.
"Tell me." He demands, face soft and sad and his tone to match.
"You keep talking about his new life, these new people you're going to be around, and it makes me feel kind of shitty," you ramble, not bothering to look his way as it will stop you from talking, "you're just picking up and leaving. Not just this town, but me and it fucking sucks!"
"Nadine-"
"Don't interrupt me," you throw an evil stare his way, before carrying on with your rant, "you get to leave - leave me - and I'm supposed to just carry on as if it's nothing. What am I supposed to do, huh? When the guy I've been friends with for 10 years - and loved-"
He stops you. Not with his words, but with his actions.
He pulls up into a warm embrace, and a passionate kiss to match the roaring fire beside you both, and you desperately want to pull away from him. You don't want to be seen as the obstacle for him now.
"Cal-"
"Nadine. No. It's my turn," he looks into your eyes, using the pads of his thumbs to dry your eyes, "I've loved you for some time. I always assumed you didn't feel the same and that's why it made leaving so easy and enjoyable. I thought you wouldn't mind me being gone. Me just packing up and leaving, you could carry on with your life and forget me. Even though I'm going to be carrying a memory of you every single day."
His soft, brown eyes hold all of the love in the world, and every single ounce of it is aimed at you.
"I love you, Nadine. It's just taken me 10 years to finally say it."
