APPARENTLY THIS ISNT SHOWING UP. IT WAS SHOWING IT ON MY CREATE PAGE, BUT NOT IN MY LIBRARY. I DONT KNOW WHY, BUT I HOPE THE ISSUE HAS BEEN RESOLVED :)

You lay in your warm bed, the covers tangled around your body, as you repeatedly toss and turn like you have been doing all night. The room is stuffy and warm, needing an opened window to let in some fresh air to cool you down. The door to your room slowly opens, as if the person opening it is cautious of waking you, when there really is no need to be. You sit bolt upright in bed, ceasing the persons movements as they notice you're still awake. From what little light that is in the room, you can't really see who the person is but you know it's your best friend, Luke.

"Luke? What are you doing?" You whisper to him, not wanting to be too loud in case you wake your parents.

"I couldn't sleep in the guest room, it's too hot." He sheepishly says to you, running a hand through his messy blonde hair. "I didn't think you'd still be awake."

"If you didn't think I'd still be awake, then why come to my room?" You chuckle at him. You like Luke, he doesn't know this, but you really do.

"In the hopes you would be awake?" His statement coming out as more of a question, resulting in you lightly laughing some more and him joining in.

"Well, I'm awake. How can I help?"

"We could start by opening the window, it's ridiculously hot in here." He exclaims, walking over to the window and opening it slightly to let some air in. "There we go."

You both just stare at each other awkwardly, not really sure what to do next. Shuffling over in your bed slightly, you pull back the covers, suggesting Luke to join you. When he realises what you're doing, he raises his brows, questioning your suggestion and hesitantly walks towards your bed.

"Are you sure? I don't want your dad coming in here in the morning, seeing us and then, well, killing me." He nervously states, he's always been scared of your dad and you always found it quite amusing.

"It's fine, honestly. He's at work in the morning, he won't even come in here. You can stay. It's fine."

You smile at him in encouragement and he slowly approaches the side of the bed, climbing onto the mattress. He sits there next to you and everything just feels awkward. It's never like this between you two, awkward isn't a part of your vocabulary when you're together. He looks over at you and you can see the corners of his mouth turn up into a slight smile.

A few more minutes pass and drag out, making it feel like you've been sat in this tension a life time and you wish you could be knocked out with sleep just to escape from it. Both his and your eyes dart around the room frantically and whenever they meet, you both look away just as quickly. You could cut the tension with a knife and the reasons are unknown as to why he's acting this way, you know why you are. Inside yourself, you can feel the courage building up. You know you need to tell him you like him, more than just a best friend, and it may even get rid of this awkward tension that you're both in. Taking a deep breath, you close your eyes and open your mouth, readying yourself to say it.

"I like you."

Your eyes shoot open. Luke is looking at you anxiously, waiting for a response to what he just said to you. The very words you was about to say to him but he got in there first, by a millisecond.

"You do?" You squeak out the question, your throat drying instantly. He slowly nods his head up and down, he looks like he wants to just be sucked into a hole and never escape. Probably because you haven't said anything back to him yet. "I like you, too."

"You do?" He looks hopeful and you slowly smile at him, you can feel the tightness of your cheek muscles as you do. You nod at him, faster than he did to you. "Wow."

"I know."

You both sit there a bit longer, shyly looking at each other and the looking away, you can feel the heat rise in your cheeks from the blush he's causing you to have. No words are said as he lays down on the bed, his head on the pillow next to yours as he indicates you to do the same, which you do. You lay down facing each other, both of you still smiling in the dark. Reaching an arm out, he brings it across your body and pulls you closer to him, so that your bodies are pressed against one another. He then kisses you forehead, whispers a 'good night', closing his eyes and you do the same. The pair of you falling into a dreamful sleep.
