**This is the imagine i wrote which went on to inspire Harder We Fall.
The sun had long since set, the night sky black overhead making it difficult to tell the difference between where the sky finished and where the water started. You was sitting cross legged on the sand, surrounding a small fire with several others. The beach party was in full swing, people dancing round becoming more and more intoxicated. The small group of people you was with was all talking, laughing and joking with one another.
All you did was listen in on the conversations, not really joining in or contributing to the conversations. Your eyes scanned the circle as people spoke, your gaze stopping upon a guy sitting parallel to you. His blonde hair tucked underneath a backwards snap back which was placed on his head, his blue eyes would have been brighter than the ocean if it had been daylight and he wore a small smirk on his lips as he listened to others talking, not noticing your staring. So you decided to admire him for a short while longer, in the hopes of not being caught.
He was wearing an unbuttoned checked shirt to reveal his lightly tanned and toned chest and black skinny jeans with no shoes. He was leaning back on his arms, his legs out in front of him as he threw his head back in laughter at what someone in the group had just said. He turns his face back to the group, his laughter dying off as his eyes connect with yours. Quickly, you look away but you can still feel his gaze burning into your face.
Slowly he rejoins the groups conversations, something you’re not quite interested in anymore. You excuse yourself from the group, getting up ready to leave and he looks at you as you make your way from the fire, something you choose to ignore. You walk off the beach, towards the main road and decide to walk home. It's not far, possibly 20 minutes and you wished you had called someone to pick you up as you start the walk.
A Jeep slowly pulls up beside you, the headlights illuminating the road ahead of you. Nervously, you step away from the car and begin speeding up, the car matches your speed and the window comes down so the driver can communicate with you.
“Hey,” A deep, male voice greets you, trying to get your attention. “Y/N!” At this you stop, he knows your name so you must know him. You turn to the car to see the guy from the fire in the drivers seat, he’s alone and has none of his friends with him. “Did you want a ride? I don’t think its very safe for you to be wandering these roads alone and at night.” You nod and apprehensively approach the car door, opening it and sliding into the passenger, you turn to thank him and see him smiling at you. “I’m Luke, by the way. I don’t know if you know who I am because you’re new to the area.” His voice trails off, waiting for you to speak. Your throat suddenly became dry and its like you don’t know how to talk anymore, so you look away from him and just stare out of the wind shield. “OK.”
The drive is silent, not uncomfortable but not exactly easy either. You decide to break the silence, never good with strangers, but you needed to make friends if you was going to be living here. You cough lightly, trying to clear your throat to speak, yet your words still come out quiet and unsure.
“I live just near-”
“The Clark Bakery in town?” He cuts you off, he looks over at you a smile on his lips whilst you wear an expression of confusion. “It's a small town, everyone knows everyone. That's how I knew your name.” You nod in understanding, still slightly taken aback that a stranger knows where you live.
You stay silent for the remainder of the ride, until you pull up outside of your house. You turn to thank him, climbing out of the car and walking towards your door. You stop when he calls your name, turning around to see him leaning across the centre console to talk to you through the open passenger window.
“Ill pick you up in morning, for school. It's supposed to rain in the morning.” He called, not wanting to agree nor turn him down, you reply.
“What if it doesn’t rain?” You ask, the likeliness of it raining in summer are slim, plus why would one of the popular guys in school want to spend more time with the weird silent girl who continuously stares at people.
“If it doesn’t rain, ill pick you up tomorrow night for dinner.” He replies, a small grin on his face, clearly pleased with his moves. You cant help but return the smile and agreeing. He stays sat in his car, until you step foot inside of your house, before pulling off.
Sure enough the next day it rains and he knocks at your door, umbrella in hand, ready to escort you to the car and take you to school.
