Part 50:

One evening, as Darsh and Kanishka sat together in their living room, a somber mood hung in the air. Darsh had noticed Kanishka's occasional bouts of anxiety and decided it was time to confront the underlying issue.

"Kanishka, there's something I need to ask you," Darsh began gently, his eyes searching hers for any hint of discomfort.

Kanishka looked up from the book she had been trying to distract herself with and met Darsh's gaze warily. She knew this conversation was inevitable, yet she hadn't prepared herself for it.

"What is it, Darsh?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

"I need to know why you and Ayan were getting married so suddenly," Darsh continued, his tone steady but insistent. "There's something you're not telling me."

Kanishka's heart sank as she realized that keeping this secret from Darsh was no longer an option. She took a deep breath, gathering her courage to reveal the painful truth.

"Ayan forced me to marry him," Kanishka confessed, her voice trembling with emotion. "He... he had a video of me, a private moment in the bathroom. He threatened to release it publicly unless I agreed to marry him."

Darsh's expression hardened, his jaw clenching with anger at the revelation. He reached out to gently grasp Kanishka's hand, offering her silent support as she continued.

"I was scared, Darsh," Kanishka continued, tears welling up in her eyes. "I didn't know what else to do. I signed the agreement to protect my family's honor, but I never wanted to marry Ayan."

Darsh listened in stunned silence, his mind racing with a mix of emotions—anger at Ayan for blackmailing Kanishka, sadness for what she had been through, and a deepening sense of protectiveness towards her.

"I'm so sorry you had to go through that," Darsh said softly, his voice filled with empathy. "You should have told me sooner."

Kanishka nodded, grateful for Darsh's understanding despite her fears of how he might react. She had carried this burden alone for so long, afraid of how revealing the truth might change their relationship.

"I was afraid you would think less of me," Kanishka admitted, her voice barely above a whisper.

Darsh gently lifted her chin, meeting her gaze with unwavering determination. "Kanishka, nothing could ever make me think less of you," he said earnestly. "You're strong and courageous, and I'm here for you, no matter what."

Kanishka felt a wave of relief wash over her, knowing that Darsh accepted her unconditionally. She leaned into his embrace, feeling a sense of safety and reassurance that she hadn't felt in a long time.

As they held each other close, Kanishka knew that despite the challenges they faced, they would navigate them together. She was no longer alone in her struggle, and with Darsh by her side, she felt hopeful for the future once more.
