Part 72: A Suspicious Encounter
Darsh had spent the better part of the day attempting to trace the mysterious "Enzo" who was supposedly blackmailing Somya.
He had scoured through various contacts, hired private investigators, and even dug through his own network, but every lead came up empty.Exasperated, he decided to take a break and clear his mind. He knew something wasn't adding up.
Somya's distress seemed genuine, but the lack of any concrete evidence or leads made him uneasy. As he sat in his office, deep in thought, his phone buzzed with a notification. It was a message from a friend who happened to be at a restaurant downtown: "Darsh, isn’t this your friend Somya? She’s here with some guy. Thought you might want to know."
Curiosity piqued, Darsh clicked on the attached photo. It was indeed Somya, seated at a table across from Ayan. Darsh's eyes narrowed.
What were they doing together?Without wasting any time, Darsh grabbed his keys and headed out. The restaurant wasn't too far from his office, and he arrived within minutes.
He entered the establishment discreetly, spotting Somya and Ayan at a secluded corner table. From his vantage point, he could see them engaged in a serious conversation, but he couldn't hear what they were saying.
Somya looked animated, her hands gesturing emphatically, while Ayan appeared calm, a slight smirk playing on his lips.Darsh’s mind raced with questions. Why was Somya meeting Ayan? And why hadn’t she mentioned anything about it? He knew he had to be careful. If he confronted them now, it could backfire, especially if he was wrong about their intentions.
He watched for a few more minutes, noting how Ayan leaned in closer to Somya, his expression one of smug confidence. Darsh's gut feeling told him something was definitely off.
Reluctantly, he left the restaurant and headed back to his car. He needed a plan. Confronting Somya directly might not yield the truth if she was indeed hiding something. He decided to bide his time and gather more information before making any moves.
Back at home that evening, Kanishka noticed the pensive look on Darsh’s face. “Is everything alright?” she asked, concerned.
Darsh forced a smile. “Yeah, just work stuff. Nothing to worry about.”
Kanishka nodded, though she wasn’t entirely convinced. “If you say so. You know you can talk to me about anything, right?”
“I know,” Darsh replied, pulling her into a hug. “I’m just trying to sort some things out. How was your day?”
Kanishka began recounting her day, and though Darsh listened attentively, his mind kept drifting back to the restaurant and the suspicious meeting between Somya and Ayan. He needed to uncover the truth, not just for his peace of mind, but to protect Kanishka and their relationship from whatever scheme might be unfolding behind their backs.
