Last night...

"So how was your day honey, Anything fun happened?" My Mum asked waiting attentively for my response.

We are currently at the dining area feasting on tonight's dinner, Mum made fried chicken and chips for dinner which has always been my favorite and strawberry shortcake for dessert.

It's like she knew that was what I needed right now because I have been craving for it for a long time now.

It has always been an old tradition of getting to know how each other person's day went at dinner time. Dad bravely sees it as an act of family togetherness which helps strengthen our bond and reduce secrecy among us. On a normal day, i would totally agree to it but this time i really didn't feel like sharing, most especially when i'm not too sure of what i experienced or even saw.

Yes! I'm still bothered by the encounter i had with Mrs Katherine... oops Kathy.

"Yeah How was your talk with Toni's mum?" Dad chipped in and after took a gulp of water.

After some hesitation, I answered with a small smile.
"Well it went okay, we talked for sometime and then departed"

"Like that?, Nothing else happened" Mum said with disbelief and shock all written over her face.

"Yeah....but not before telling me that Toni is undergoing surgery tomorrow" I said just before taking one spoon of the food into my mouth.

"Hmm... she told us too when we got there today" She confirmed and then there was silence on the table.

With Everyone stuck in their thoughts and focused on their food, The air became so intense that i had to break the silence.

"Mum How's Amy?" I asked setting my gaze on her side of the table.

"She's faring better than before, I know she misses you even if she doesn't show it" She said with a small smile.

"Yeah Her mum told me that, She still blames me for it huh?" I asked with a sad nervous laugh without expecting any answer because i already knew it. I must say i became sad getting the notion that she still blames me for the incident even with everything we have been through, but I wasn't too surprised because I expected her to. Still I'm a little bit happy that she is getting more better than how she was before.

Sensing my mood has changed, I heard mum quickly say
"It looks like you are tired, it has been a hectic day for us all. Baby why don't you go and sleep while me and your Dad stay to clean up here"

Dad agreed with her by nodding.

"Are you sure?, i'm not really tired any..." I said reaching out for the plates but was interrupted by Dad.

"Don't worry, we got this" He gave my outstretched hand a reassuring squeeze with a smile which made me feel a little bit sure that they could handle it.

"Oh okay, If anything goes wrong just call me okay. Also if you need me just remember I'm a few distance away"

"We won't have to because everything will be fine. Trust us on this" Mum smiled sheepishly.

"Okay, Goodnight guys" Finally giving up, I bade them and left the dining arena, making my way up the stairs.

"Goodnight Baby" They both chorused.

Finally through with that boring moment of climbing the stairs, I came in front of my room door but before I could reach out to open it, I heard some whispers coming from living room down the stairs.

"That was a close one Honey, Nice save...." The voice which sounded like Dad said but before I could hear any further, I just opened the door and went in, shutting it behind me.
