Elijah Clementine Kirovsky Regalonte

"Ma'am," I greeted, bowing my head in front of the co-owner of Regalontes, the private security company where I work.

"I don't remember asking you to come back home, Clementine."

Home.

It wasn't an order but a reminder to come back every time I heard she would be in the country. Not because I needed to report to her about work, but because I knew the chaos that would happen at home whenever she returned.

She and my father would play their usual game—a dangerous game of life and death.

I walked towards her.

Sitting on the couch was my mother, Elena Kamila Kirovskaya, 56, a retired Russian assassin. She is the co-owner of the private security company owned by my father, where I was a bodyguard.

And the reason why I work as a bodyguard after resigning as a navy seal is because of their plans for me—which I never questioned because I trust them. They told me that in order for me to be the next head, I need to first start from the lowest.

I am not expecting either.

"Are you here because you miss Daddy or are you here because you miss Mommy?"

"Ma'am--"

"Come on, Clementine. You are in our house so drop the formality. Hindi mo ako boss at tayo-tayo lang naman ang narito so call me mom," sabi niya.

Her legs were crossed as she continue to wipe the knife she was holding. When I realized what she was doing, I shook my head and looked around.

I think I'm late.

"Where is Dad?" I asked. I didn't bother answering her question because it was just her teasing me again.

She held the knife and pointed it up, where I immediately looked.

"Hmm!" That's when my father looked at me and made a sound for help. His eyes are desperately looking at me. But he's not moving, mukhang takot siyang bumagsak na lang bigla kapag kumilos siya.

"Mom," I shut my eyes and sighed in frustration.

"Don't worry, son. He's fine"

How the fck did she put dad there alone?

I sigh deeply again.

"What time did you arrive?" I asked her while still looking at my father.

It gets worse every time she's back. The last time, Dad was tied up in the middle of our pool surrounded by a lot of snakes. And now... this.

"4:00 a.m," she answered without even looking at me.

She looks fine, still the same as a year ago. She hasn't gained or lost weight. Even her hair is still the same length as it was last year. Mom doesn't even look like she's aging.
