ENZO

"What do you want to tell me, doctor?" I asked him.

Silence fell around the area.

The doctor's face hardened and then slowly softened at the same time. I don't feel right about the way he is acting let alone watching me with a strange look. Then he hesitatingly started telling me something. Something that I had never imagined to hear before.

Heart thudding in a way it never happened before- I kept telling myself to just listen to the doctor as he kept speaking and speaking. And speaking.

Unbelievable.

I could choose to not believe anything at all. But that's a doctor telling me all the things, so I have no choice but to believe his words rather than to stay in illusion.

The truth absolutely blew my mind. Now, I feel speechless. The more the doctor kept speaking, the more I kept questioning in between for clarification, however, it only made me more silent.

"Your signature is needed on some paper." He extended a pen in my direction.

From the first day I met her, I couldn't find even a single strange thing about her life even if she seemed very strange at that time. Then what did I miss? I need to get some answers from Tim because thinking about this matter all by myself will only weaken me from having strength. And I can't lose my strength at this position.

Absolutely not.

"Doctor!" The nurse came running to us, looking surprised.

The doctor stopped talking to me as she approached us with big steps. The pen in my hand came to an abrupt halt on the paper as I faced her.

Something seemed wrong.

"The ICU patient, Alora Gray." She panted, and huffed. "Please come fast, doctor."

My heart stopped. The silence that followed was deafening. Cold sweat covered my skin as I watched them back and forth.

I am terrified. Of everything.

"W-what happened?" My eyes narrowed on her. Maybe I looked scary at the moment because the nurse stepped back from me while glancing at the doctor.

For God's sake, they need to stop responding like this. It's not like I will literally eat them up.

So, I turned to the doctor as I saw the nurse telling him to hurry up. "Doctor, what is it? It's not something serious, is it?"

He collected the papers I signed up for the things of Alora's health care and everything else.

Then facing me, he said in a low tone, "Mr. Ferrante, it would be nice if you stay here."

I tried to protest but he cut me in the middle. "Please, sir. I request you to not come with us inside the unit. It might not be good for the patient's health. Let us check her condition first. I will be updating you soon."

And then they immediately disappeared from my sight.

I am not getting any good feelings about this. How can I stay back- they didn't even tell me what had happened.

God, it's terrifying me. They are terrifying me. So much that my whole body started shaking.

I am confused about what to do now. Carlo and the others are back in the mansion because I had told them to. They were stressed too so I thought it's better to tell them to go back home and rest. At first they protested against it but as their boss I held the power to command them. Therefore, they agreed to listen to me.

Now the question is what should I do? What step should I take?

"Hello there." I saw Stella and mom walking towards me.

"Mom, you are here." She hugged me, and when she stepped back I saw something flickered in her eyes.

Reading my face, Stella's eyebrows furrowed because I couldn't keep my neutral expression. "Enzo, is everything alright? You are looking pale."

Mom blinked, then continued to detect my face seriously. "Are you not feeling well?"

Despite having this uncontrollable urge of kicking the wall, shouting and yelling at everyone around the spot and breaking things- I smiled.

"I am okay, Mom." She didn't respond to that.

"Hey, Enzo, when was the last time you had a proper sleep?" Stella asked or more like she was inquiring.

At the moment, I could have ignored the question if I wanted to but with mom's presence and the way she searched my face right after she mentioned about my sleep, I have no choice but to give an answer.

I shrugged my shoulders as I answered, "Last night." Didn't seem like they were convinced with my response.

For a second, they observed me with narrowed eyes. However, seeing me assuring them, at last, they looked convinced.

"I have had enough sleep. So, I'm absolutely fine." I gave a curt nod.

I am on the verge of collapsing though, if you ask me how I am feeling right now. Not because of the lack of sleep for the past few days. It's because of the news about Alora that the nurse hurried to get the doctor.

"Mr. Ferrante. Ma'am." I turned to look at the feminine voice. The nurse panted as she reached us in no time.

I blinked. It looks like the very same scene from just a few moments ago.

"What is it?" I asked.

Mom came forward and held my arm with her trembling hands. Her face turned concerned as she swallowed. "Is everything alright, sister?"

"Yes, ma'am. Don't worry, everything is fine." She gave a reassuring smile.

Good.

Everything should be fine. Nothing can go wrong. Then why is there this look of desperation on her face?

"Actually, I am here to tell you that," She glanced at me then released a breath. "Ms. Gray has come out of the coma!"

Silence fell around us.

This time, I can't explain how much I liked this silence. I was still in my place not knowing if I should release the oxygen that got caught in my lungs or continue processing the words to cool down.

I am not making up false assumptions to relieve myself. It's happening for real. What the nurse just told us...it is real.

I heard Stella gasping loudly as she jumped on her toes while hugging mom.

"Enzo! You heard that?" Then she wrapped her arms around and above my body and squeezed me from the side. "Oh my God, our Alora is back!"

Mom weeped as she said, "Sister, can we...see her now?"

I watched the nurse in utter silence.

"I am sorry but you can't meet her right now. But sure you can see her from the window."

"It would be great either." Stella said, looking back and forth between me and Mom.

Mom nodded. The nurse nodded back in response. As they were hurrying to follow the nurse to the unit, Stella stopped on her track and looked back at me.

"Hey, I know you must be on cloud nine right now, but it's the time, Enzo." She shaked my arm. "The wait is over."

Yes. The wait is over now.

My Alora, she listened to me... she heard my request and finally came back. And with her surprising arrival she brought me back to the world.
