ENZO
The middle aged woman took a seat across the table. Whereas the woman beside me, my woman- her body stiffened. I heard her taking a deep breath while she stared at the other woman.
Curiosity spread all over her face. I wondered what could be the reason behind this sudden thought of meeting Gloria in person. The moment she turned numb at the party that day- I instantly knew something wasn't right. What I didn't know is that it concerned this woman whom Alora was searching for.
That acknowledges that this woman, Gloria, had been involved with something else than the affairs of murders.
Although Alora didn't tell me anything, now that I am seeing this tension between these two women, no one can convince me otherwise. Something must be doubting Alora, that has this woman involved.
That's why I chose to accompany her today even though she insisted many times that she will be fine. Still I couldn't let her come here alone. I somehow convinced her saying that I will be silent and let her take the lead. To my surprise, she chuckled just then and mumbled a 'seriously?' as she watched me.
So that's how I came to be present here. In between these two women who looked like they do have a strong motive for something.
"I was quite certain that we will meet soon." Gloria said, looking pleased. "You won't believe that I have been imagining our meeting."
Well, I didn't expect this meeting either. But, why would she imagine in the first place to have a meeting with Alora?
What was this about?
"And mind if I ask who this handsome young man is?" Gloria pointed at me. "I saw you the other day, didn't I?"
Alora gave a light sigh as if to ease her nerves. "This is Enzo Ferrante. My fiance." She replied boldly.
And my heart fluttered hearing the word that released from her lips. While on the other hand, Gloria couldn't wipe the amusement on her face. Her eyes widened at the realisation.
I thought she was shocked perhaps but she seemed rather energetic after hearing about us. Her body language totally changed from anxious to now delighted.
"Oh, congratulations." I spotted a warm gesture in her eyes.
"Thank you." I respect that she has been nice with Alora so far. So, I must show my respect in return.
"I apologise for bothering you," Alora hesitated. "But this meeting was needed."
Gloria shook her head. "Absolutely not. Tell me, what's bothering you?"
The way she phrased it, sounded like she knew exactly what was going to come out of Alora's mouth. That she is certainly well known of Alora's every concern and troubles.
Alora sighed. "The other day, Mia mentioned someone's name to me. I am wondering if you know that person well."
"What name did Mia mention?" Gloria asked.
Alora gazed right into the woman's eyes and said, "Rachel."
Eyes slightly widened, I watched with utter silence as more deafening silence fell around our table. Suddenly, the chattering inside the cafe felt too loud to my sensitive ears.
That's Alora's mother's name. Rachel Gray.
I know because I had already read the detailed file of Alora's background back as soon as she came to stay with me.
Now, Alora bringing her mother into this- it meant only one thing. Her mother was somehow included in this too. And Alora must have noticed this unspoken fact.
