ALORA
"Alora, come here fast." Mom's sweet and soft voice filled with excitement made me get up from my important task of colouring the little wooden house.
"Look, what you got." She smiled wide, so wide.
I searched for the thing looking here and there. I frowned as I found nothing.
"Mom, where is it?" I asked, impatient.
Mom shrugged her shoulders. "You find it yourself."
I growled. Mom always does that. Everytime she hides things and then tells me to find it out. Sometimes I passed, and sometimes couldn't. She says when I get concentrated on completing her given task, I look just like Dad.
Mom also says that I resemble Dad in so many ways. And that sometimes, I resemble him by not giving up.
Even this time I gave my hundred percent to search for it. But I failed.
Giving up, I pouted, turning my face to the side. Mom scoffed, looking at me with an apology.
"Oh don't be upset." She brushed my hair. "Try hard next time, okay?"
"Yes, Mom."
Then she squatted down and held my waist. "There you go." And lifted me up to the head of the fridge.
Finally, I got to see the thing.
"Muffins!" I grinned.
Looking down at Mom, she smiled and mirrored my reaction. I hold the package as Mom carefully puts me down.
"Yes." She kissed my cheeks. "You like them so much."
I nodded so rapidly.
"Mr. Muffins send them for me, right?" I asked her.
"Yes, Alora." Mom took the weight from my hold and opened it.
She pulled out a little note, coloured in every single colour mixed just like a rainbow. Mom watched me with an amused gasp as she held the note in the air.
"You got a note, again."
"What did my friend write to me? Please read it for me, Mom." I wiggled with a pleased look.
Mom chuckled. "God. Look at your flustered face. It's like you got a crush."
I hide my face with both hands, feeling shy. "I didn't even see Mr. Muffins." I giggled.
"Aww, it's okay, sweetheart." She gently removed my fingers from covering my face. "No need to be shy."
So I held my head high. "My friends say that we can't have a crush if we don't see the boy."
"Of course." She laughed, so sweetly.
"Read it quickly, read it quickly." I jumped on my toes.
She cleared her throat and read it. "Hello little Alora."
"Hello, Mr. Muffins!" I said to his note, joyful.
Mom continued, "These muffins are specially for you. I hope you will like them. But don't eat them all at once."
I nodded. "Okay, okay. I won't."
Mom nodded back. "Only one in a day." I gave her a thumbs up.
Breathing in, Mom continued again. "You don't want your Dad to scold me for giving his daughter cavity, now do you?"
