DEVASHREE SAT IN THE BACK, GENTLY ROCKING PRADYUMNA IN HER ARMS AS HER BABY BEGAN TO FUSS. She kissed his face all over and rubbed his back.

"Swami," she called softly, glancing toward Krishna who was holding the reins. "I think Tanu needs a little attention. Let's stop for a moment."

Krishna brought the cart to a halt by the side of the road under the shade of a large banyan tree.

Devashree carefully climbed out, cradling Pradyumna close. She cooed softly to him, brushing his damp curls from his forehead as she found a small, clean spot to sit. Pulling out a small cloth and water flask from the bag they'd brought, she gently cleaned his face and hands all the while cooing at him.

"There we go, my baby," she wiped away his tears. "You're all fresh now." She adjusted her saree to feed him, and for a moment, his cries subsided as he suckled. Krishna watched from the front of the cart, a faint smile tugging at his lips.

Once Pradyumna was fed and swaddled, Devashree returned to the cart, settling him back into her arms. But the peace didn't last long. As the cart started moving again, his cries resumed, louder this time.

Devashree rocked him. "What's the matter, my baby? You've been fed, cleaned, and cuddled. What else could you possibly want?"

"Perhaps he's restless from the motion. Let me take him."

Devashree passed the squirming baby to Krishna, who expertly cradled him in his arms despite holding the reins. Pradyumna quieted for a moment, his wide eyes taking in his father's face, but soon the whimpers began again. The little one kept turning his head back, searching for his mother.

Krishna chuckled softly. "It seems our Tanu doesn't want to be away from his mother for even a moment."

Devashree smiled faintly. "What should we do, Swami? He's still so small. Perhaps we should stop again."

"No need," Krishna replied. "I have a solution." Without warning, he tugged gently on Devashree's arm, pulling her toward him. Before she could protest, he settled her onto his lap, her back pressed against his chest.

"Swami!" she exclaimed, her cheeks flushing as she tried to steady herself. "What are you doing?"

"Keeping both my son and my wife happy," Krishna replied with a teasing grin. He adjusted her gently, ensuring she was comfortable. "Now, Tanu can see his mother and still enjoy the ride. And I," he added with a playful smirk, "can have my entire world in my arms."

Devashree's face turned a deeper shade of pink. "Swami, someone might see us!" she protested, glancing nervously around at the open fields and occasional villagers in the distance.
