Loona: Heyyyyy... you...
Loona awkwardly approached the huge hellhound in his human disguise, trying to sound casual, but her nervousness betrayed every movement. Vortex, focused on watching Verosika and her team working from afar, turned his head to glance at her out of the corner of his eye just as she, in a desperate act of "camaraderie," clumsily punched him in the arm in a friendly manner. Her face betraying that immediate regret, but Vortex didn't even blink at the gesture.
Vortex: Oh, hey. You're the hound workin' for my boss's freaky ex.
The mention of Blitzø made Loona force an awkward giggle, as if trying to downplay the issue.
Loona: Yeah... Sorry if that's weird.
But Vortex just shrugged, not looking away from his boss.
Vortex: It's cool. Her beef ain't mine. I'm not paid enough to care.
Loona: Yeah! Yeah...
Loona smiled hard, so hard it hurt as she pushed her fringe back to try and regain some dignity.
Loona: I'm LoOna...
Her voice cracked as she said her name, causing Vortex to let out a light laugh. Not mocking, but not indifferent either.
Vortex: Ok. I'M VORTEX!
He responded by exaggeratedly imitating her voice crack, accompanied by a short laugh. To Loona, that sounded more appealing than any cheap romantic verse she'd ever heard in her life. Her chest tightened for a second as she tried to process why it was suddenly hot.
Loona: That's hot...
A blush crept over her face as she realized she'd said it out loud. She panicked.
Loona: I mean, like, literally, y'know? 'Cause vortexes... y'know, they give off heat... Probably. Right?
To top off her pseudoscientific explanation, she raised her hands in the shape of finger guns, as if that would make the situation better. Then she bit her lip, wishing she didn't exist right now.
Vortex: Uh... yeah.
Loona felt her soul evaporate into thin air as he laughed, but something about the sound managed to relax her a little.
Vortex: I guess. But my friends call me Tex.
Loona: Oh yeah? I wish I had friends...
As soon as the words left her mouth, she wanted to scream. She tried to cover up the slip with a forced giggle, but only managed to fiddle with her hair even more nervously.
Loona: I mean... No, I mean, I don't... I... I don't have any friends-
Y/N: There you are, Loona!
Loona froze at the sound of Y/N's enthusiastic voice, running over at full speed, kicking up clouds of sand with each clumsy step. The little girl was panting, clearly out of breath, but too excited to even stop to breathe.
Loona: Oh... heeey, Y/N. What... what are you doin' here?
She tried to sound casual, though the awkwardness was showing on her face. But Y/N, with all her energy and candor, didn't notice a hint of annoyance in her sister's voice.
Y/N: I was following you! But then I saw Verosika on stage.
The costumed pup excitedly pointed towards the platform where the succubus was giving her concert. She was jumping up and down in pure excitement.
