"Why do good things happen to bad people?"
We're all bad, aren't we? Stained with sin and nobody's clean. But have you seen a person living a life so genuine but is being treated like a barren land - cursed and forgotten?
Have you seen people having dreams - being selfless for the sake of the people they love? But in the end, their prize is loneliness or even losing their life.
Have you seen people loving with all their heart but ends up being played and traumatized so hard?
Have you seen a father working day and night to feed his family but ends up in the grave because of an unexpected calamity?
Have you seen a mother saying she's full even though her stomach's empty, just to make sure her children are happy - but ends up ignored and yelled at like she's a stranger in the family?
It's heartbreaking to witness someone suffer hell on Earth when all they did was sacrifice themselves. Sometimes, I feel guilty and unworthy when opportunities and blessings come my way - like why me? There's much more deserving people out there.
Watching life being cruel to the needy and innocent - burns my eyes. I can't help but question, "why?" They deserve to be happy but, no they're on the corner hoping for a miracle to set them free. While the devil wears a shawl and an ankle-length skirt on a Sunday mass flaunting to the public how devoted and graceful she was. But I knew the face behind the mask, I witnessed a crime they covered with holy water and dust. It makes me feel sick, where do they get the audacity? How can they call themselves holy? And they'll question my faith because I talk about God, yet I don't go to church like they do. But I don't go to my friend's house to prove to people that we're friends, my friend knows - I visit to spend time together - not to brag nor show off.
There are nights that the thoughts of them keep me wide awake. I can't hate them but I despise what they do. I used to think that they're unaware of their actions but they're mindful as an eagle, just unbothered by the pain they caused to other people. I find it so unfair, while they're celebrating, laughing, and dancing - the people they harmed looked like poor dogs waiting for their crumbs - fckin' bare minimum. But in the eyes of desperate and blameless souls - it's a banquet.
In my mind, I really wish I could do anything about it. They matter to me but I hate what they do. I don't make friends with the devil but they're angels the first time I met them in the midst of the unknown. The people they hurt got nothing to do with me but my heart bleeds seeing them mourning - they don't deserve such pain.
Those who do bad feel blessed. Saw them grinning and laughing so hard as they played a stupid game but won the glimmering grand prize. While those who play fair and right, gain nothing but tired eyes.
Sometimes, I wonder what if I become the villain - that way, for once I'll be happy - they're happy. Life seems to be gentle with people who have the roughest heart.
.. but then I remember, if I choose to be wicked and heartless - it's like I'm choosing to lose myself.
.. I'll do what I can to become better, so when God would bless me, I won't feel guilty - instead, I'll know it's the prize of choosing patience over cruelty.
Why do good things happen to bad people?
I still don't know..
But one thing I'm sure of, a faithful one never stops believing in Him despite losing in battles every single time. Because life here on Earth is never perfect but in heaven - there will be no sadness nor pain. Perhaps, that's the reason why good people are taken away from us so early. Because God doesn't want them to suffer in this world of endless immorality.
