Part 100 queenies
It's actually insane to think I've wrote 100 chapters of this book. Wild.
Taylor's POV:
Harper was tucked up into my side, her burning cheeks pressed against my chest and her hand resting on my tummy. Travis had headed out to find some medicine for her and Ellie had headed off to a friend's house.
The silence of the usually busy house felt calming, like there was space to let myself breathe and relax. Part of me still missed the craziness though, missed the liveliness in harper that she had lost the first time she threw up today.
That didn't matter though, what mattered was that she had finally fallen asleep and that her once bright right red cheeks were starting to look more normal.
Billy bear had fallen on the floor long before harper fell asleep and blankie was holding on to the edge of the couch barely. In this moment the only comfort she needed was me. "My beautiful baby." I whispered, gently rubbing her cheek with my thumb.
The door opening caused her to stir slightly, pressing her face further into my chest while she rubbed one eye. It was enough noise to disturb her peace but thankfully not enough to wake her completely. "Shh it's just daddy, stay asleep baby." I told her, gently playing with her hair. And she did.
Travis came over with a bag full of useful medicines and everything else I had sent him to get too, small items that we had ran out of like toothpaste that urgently needed picking up.
Before anything he came over to place a kiss on my lips, greeting me and asking about harper immediately. The worry was evident in his voice.
"She's okay, she's just cuddly and enjoying using me as a pillow." I whispered, gently moving her to be laying fully on the couch. I then covered her up and followed Travis to the kitchen where he showed me what he had picked up.
Noones pov:
"You got chocolate?" Taylor asked, noticing a few chocolate bars in the bag.
"Well... I thought since harper is sick she will sleep lots which means we can eat chocolate without her wanting some. So I got some." Travis told Taylor, putting it in the fridge.
It wasn't long before harper could be heard coughing in the other room. Taylor could only imagine the poor toddler was throwing up but she was so thankful when she noticed harper was fine and just clearly in need of a drink. "Come get your cup of water Harpie!" Taylor called from the kitchen island where Travis was sat.
Soon enough harpers little feet could be heard running across the wooden floors. She reached Taylor and immediately reached up for some water, still coughing. Taylor noticed the snotty nose too and immediately knew they were in for a rough few days, typical cold symptoms plus throwing up was never a fun one at all, especially not with harpers weak immune system.
Later that night, Taylor and Travis were fast asleep with harper in the middle. She felt disgusting and so sick, she was also extremely scared to admit that she had peed herself in their bed, something g that happened a lot more often when she was sick.
However, instead of crying and reaching for Taykor she just gently placed her hand on Travis' arm. A few silent tears spilled down her burning hot cheeks but other than that no one could have known she was upset. "Dada." She whispered, gently tapping him.
Travis soon rolled over, pulling her close to him in an attempt to get her to fall asleep. It was then when he noticed the wet mattress and quickly sat up. "Let's get you changed little monster, don't worry about it daddy will handle it." He told her calmly.
Harper whiles slightly, grabbing her tummy while feeling nausea wash over her. "Icky." She whimpered, her face paling. Travis was never one to deal with puke, that was for Taylor as it always knocked Travis sick too but this time harper had reached for him when she felt this way and he wasn't going to leave her side if he was the one she wanted to comfort her.
"Let's get you to the bathroom tiny." He whispered, turning on the bathroom light and taking her in there.
Taylor woke up to the sound of harper gaging and throwing up and she couldn't help but notice the wet mattress. She knew Travis had enough on his hands dealing with harper so she very quickly stripped the bed and took off the soaked mattress protected, putting on a clean one and remaking the bed in new bedding. She then checked over Blankie and Billie bear to ensure they hadn't gotten wet before finding a pull up for harper to wear.
She had also found some light pajamas for the small girl but highly doubted that she would wear anything but a pull up after throwing up. She usually felt way too hot in the night while sick.
Travis was still in there with her after about five minutes and that's when Taylor became concerned about how unwell harper actually was. To throw up so much wasn't so good, especially not for a child who barely managed to eat much in a day.
"Trav is she alright?" Taylor asked calmly, knocking gently on the door before going in. Taylor's voice was tired and filled with worry and the bright lights made it hard to keep her eyes open but she knew this came with part of being a mom.
"She's ever no. Stop throwing up for like eight minutes now Tay, she doesn't eat much in a day as it is so I don't know where it's coming from, I'm scared she might get dehydrated and lose any nutrition she actually has." Travis admitted, still rubbing Harper's back.
"I'd say I can give her milk because that's the best thing for a child but she can't stop throwing up long enough to even latch never mind keep it down." Taylor replied.
"Do you have your phone on you?" Travis asked.
"Hospital?" Taylor asked him quietly, not wanting harper to hear.
Travis nodded slightly. Taylor thought for a second, an ambulance would take a while to get there and even then they couldn't stop her from throwing up. The best bet would be to get her into the car and rush her to the hospital themselves.
"Get her into my car with a sick bucket, you'll have to stay with her and I'll drive us." Taylor told him, heading into their room to grab her phone, Billie bear, blankie and some shoes. She packed the pull up and spare clothes into her handbag and grabbed anything extra they would need before heading to Ellie's room.
"Ellie, honey, I'm just taking harper to hospital to get an iv before she gets any worse, Trav is coming with me will you be okay alone or do you want one of us to come back for the night?" Taylor asked.
"I'm all good. I hope she's okay." Ellie replied, pressing play on her tv show.
"Okay, night honey." Taylor whispered before heading out to the car where Travis had Harper.
And with that she headed to the hospital without hesitation.
