Lines Composed Looking at Map of America

See that the unending mass of land,

Which at King James' economic endeavor,

Was unconquerable, furiously unbeatable,

And infinitely lovely, is ended.

The prairie is off-limits after sundown these days.

Texans are but Mexicans half an inch away,

And America the beautiful is

Perfectly situated to reign in total silence,

If not for New England

And their starry nights of radio fueled noise.
