You woke up with a small whine as your head ached. You sat up and looked around only to see that you were in a cage of some sort. You shuddered at the sight and grabbed your head, beginning to rock back and forth with you uneasy breathing, "Why? Why? Why?" You whisper.
"Because your kind are disgusting." A voice piped up and your gaze snapped towards the masculine voice only to see a... Skeleton? His skull appeared to be cracked and he had one yellow eye, or at least that's what you'd call it.
You quickly looked away again before frantically searching for your companion, "Ivy!" You yelled. This man, monster, thing, whatever he or it was, you were terrified. You were intimidated because you were helpless in this situation... The cage bars were keeping you confined and there wasn't much you could do.
A bark rang out and Ivy peeped her muzzle out of the bars of another cage. The other cage was painfully close to yours, but still out of reach. You desperately reached your arms out of the bars trying to pet her for comfort, seeing as how she also began to freak out, "Ivy! Ivy! It's okay!" You whispered loudly as the dog whined and whimpered. The pitbull's muzzle remained out of the bars, trying to nuzzle your hand.
You merely forgot about the monster who was watching you with interest, but he was only forgotten for a short period of time.
"You two are awfully fun to watch." He chuckles, "Listen toots. Look at me." He walked towards where you sat and crouched down, peering at you, "You should be thanking me... You could've gotten seriously hurt last night."
You quiver and yank your arm back inside of the cage as his hand goes to touch it.
He only grins a bit wider at your action, "I did you a pretty big favor. At least tell me your name."
"Y/N." You whispered through gritted teeth and looked down at the ground. Why did you tell this douche your name...?
"Nice name. I'm Sans." Sans stands back up and hums quietly, "Explain to me... Why you were out wandering so late at night?"
"Why do I have to tell you? You'll just send me back.." You whispered and shuddered again at the thought of your father screaming at you.
His smile faltered and he appeared a bit angered, "You humans are all alike. Ignorant... Stubborn... Foolish." He muttered, "Answer me dammit."
You flinched. His words felt like acid burning on your skin and he was starting to become a spitting image of your father, "I-I ran away..." You quivered as the tears suddenly ran down your face, "Please don't send me back..."
Sans watched your posture change and the tone in your voice could have sent a million daggers into his heart. I mean soul. Although he did not show his sympathy for you, "Ran away from what?"
"My father." The two simple words indicated you were terrified of said person. The way your voice shook and the way your posture fell said it all.
Sans scoffed quietly, "How do I know you're not lying...?" He mumbled, but couldn't help but feel like a jackass. It was more than obvious he was trying to convince himself to not trust you.
You suddenly got to your feet and uncovered your face and rolling up your sleeves to reveal the cuts and bruises, "Is this enough proof!?" You shrieked and you could have sworn you saw him flinch. The tears continued to run down your face.
Sans looked at your injuries and looked away, "Mm." He hummed with a sigh before glaring at you, "Yell at me again. See what happens."
You quickly backed down. The way his tone was... It was so threatening and sounded too much like your father. You only nodded before dragging yourself away to the farthest corner.
Sans looked down and grumbled something under his breath that you couldn't quite make out, "Look kid... I'm sorry. I'm just having a bad day, alright?" He looks over at you and you subtly nod, "I've just gone through this world knowing humans were terrible, y'know?"
"I know." You muttered, "Humans are sick." You agreed, but you knew some humans were good too.
Sans smiled a bit, "Pretty low of yourself to say that about your own kind, kid."
