Have you always wondered why the Kingdoms of the island of Great Britain joined to make the United Kingdom? Well let me tell you. In the 1690s the Kingdom of Scotland saw how it's neighbor England and other European Nations made large Colonial Empires in mostly the Americas. Scotland wanted a Scottish Empire so they sent 2,500 of their own to make an expedition to Panama. When the Scottish arrived there was 2 problems. Spanish Conquistadors already colonized Panama which Scotland didn't expect. Also the Scottish weren't prepared for disease so 2/3 of the Scottish sailors died because of this. The Scottish then abandoned the Panama expedition. England then saw how Scotland was and feared that the Scottish will ally with their rivals, so in 1707 England gave Scotland a deal to unify as one Kingdom known as the United Kingdom of Great Britain so the British overtime carved there mark by have the world's largest empire ever.
