Massacre and Genocide 2

Let's continue with the massacres and genocides. Warning the following disturbing graphic information was true, if you do not like the information, please don't read the rest of the chapter. My Lai Massacre. In 1968, during the Vietnam War, the American Lt. Calley decided to go to the Vietnamese town know as My Lai and did the gruesome act of killing and gang raping 500 Vietnamese civilians. Lt. Calley was arrested and sentenced to life in prison, but a day later Calley was released because of a Pardon from then president Richard Nixon. Wagalla Massacre. During the mid 1980's in Kenya, tensions grew between an armed Somali Clan known as the Degodia. Which made the Kenyan government to invade the Degodia. Kenyan officials beat and starved members of the Somali Clan. If they survived, Kenyan officials will kick them to death or set them on fire. Korean Massacre. During the early stages of the Korean War, the South Korean government ordered that South Korean officials kill anyone suspect as a Communist or a supporter to Communist North Korea. The Koreans suspected were either thrown of cliffs or shot to death. Up to 5,000 were killed in the massacre. The massacre wasn't revealed until 2008. Chinese Cultural Revolution. In 1949 after the Chinese Communists won mainland China and the Nationalists fled to Taiwan, Chairman Mao Zedong became the leader of the China and the Chinese Communist Party. After the death of Joseph Stalin in 1953, Stalin's successor, Nikita Khrushchev de-Stalinized the Soviet Union. Mao Zedong and Stalin were very similar and Mao Zedong believe that same fate will happen to Mao himself, so anybody suspected of breaking strict Chinese laws and policies were killed, harassed, raped, tortured, or embarrased. It is said that this Genocide killed 2,000,000-80,000,000 people. The only reason it ended was because the death Mao Zedong in 1974.
