France. France is a country that represents freedom for all. But before republican democracy, there was the absolute monarchy. The French Revolution is one of the most influential wars in history. But what came from the French Revolution is what the revolutionaries fought against, a monarchy. So how did the French Revolution began and what came from it? The French Revolution is mostly blamed on the king of France, King Louis XVI. So what did Louis did to piss the people off? Well it was because of another revolution, the American Revolution. France insured that the revolutionaries in the 13 Colonies would achieve their dream of an independent nation. Why? Because Empire. The United Kingdom of Great Britain nearby was against France in the 7 Years War, which made all remains of New France being annexed by Great Britain into British North America. The French helped the Americans because the French really wanted to get back on the British. This desperation to get back on the British, drove France in extreme debt, that the King failed to pay, so taxes increased in France. So more taxes equals a more angry population. Originally revolutionaries didn't want to abolish the monarchy, they want Louis to stay king but give small amount of power over the country, they wanted a constitutional monarchy. But when Louis was executed attempting to flee to Austria, then it was pointless to keep the king in power. So the monarchy was abolished, and then established a republic. The other monarchies feared of the same happening to them didn't agree with the French doings. So the Austrian Empire declared war on the French Republic in April 20th, 1792. Then the Kingdom of Prussia and the Russian Empire invaded Poland-Lithuania a frailing nation in Eastern Europe, then was split. Afterwards Prussia and Russia declared war on France. The Kingdom of Savoy in the northwest Italy declared war on France. When France invaded and annexed the region of Savoia from the Kingdom of Savoy in 1793, all of Europe except 2 Italian states, Switzerland, Denmark, the Swedish Empire, and the Ottoman Empire declared war on France. In 1794 France made a major offensive in the Lowlands and western Holy Roman Empire and didn't stop until the Netherlands surrendered and in November 1795, France annexed what it occupied and made a puppet dictatorship in the Netherlands. Afterwards France made peace with Spain and Russia. In April 1796 France begun their invasion of northern Italy invading the neutral Italian states, the Kingdom of Savoy, Milan, and Veneto during their invasion, France agreed to peace with the Papal States and Tuscany. In September 1796 Spain allied itself with France. France attempted invasion of the Holy Roman Empire but Austria kept them from invading. After Veneto surrendered in early 1797 France went for Austria through Veneto and Austria was forced to go to peace in April 1797. After the Austrian Empire left the war in October 1797 the French took control and made puppet states in Switzerland and the Papal States. In July 1798 France invaded Egypt, provoking a war with the Ottomans, the Egyptian front was mostly successful for France. In late December 1798 Austria and Russia declared war on France again. Also in late December the French were able to successfully defeat Naples. While on the Egyptian front, France successfully occupied the Nile River which was under control of the Ottomans, then France had its sights towards Syria. Afterwards France then sent a force through the Sinai desert, Israel until they reached the Levant. While in India, British forces and Indian empires invaded French supporting nations and empires  in India. France's offensive into Syria was a failure as the Ottomans pushed the French back to Egypt. Back into Italy Austrian and Ottoman forces were able to liberate all of Italy except for western Savoy which France kept occupying. By April 1800 the entirety of Italy was liberated from French control. In May 1800 Russia made peace with France, and in July 1800 the Ottomans force the French out of Egypt. In March 1801 France made it to Austria again forcing the Austrian Empire to agree to another peace treaty which left a majority of Italy back to French occupation. In June 1802 Portugal made peace with France making the UK the only country left against the former French Republic and now the new French Empire. In March 25, 1802 the UK agreed to the Treaty of Amiens which ended the French Revolutionary Wars but these wars were just preparation for the larger deadlier Napoleonic Wars which we already discussed.
