Have you always wondered why the United States used an atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki? Well in 1945 almost the end of World War 2. The United States with the help of Great Britain and Canada made atomic bombs. That was supposed to be used on the Nazis but when the Allied Powers won the war in Europe with the surrender of Nazi Germany. But it still wasn't over, Imperial Japan still didn't surrender. Things weren't going well for Japan, China was taking back Manchuko and Taiwan , Korea was fighting back, the Soviet Union threatened their existence, The United States Canada and Mexico attacked Japan in the Pacific. The United States had 2 choices, invade mainland Japan OR drop devastating bombs on Japanese cities until they surrender. They chose the bombs. And the bombs were dropped on the cities, they killed and injured an estimated 225,000 Japanese before their surrender. Before the atomic bomb the Japanese had a devastating plan to get rid of the U.S, Canada, & Mexico, if the war was going longer. A plan to prevent the North American countries from invading mainland Japan, the Japanese had a plan named Operation Cherry Blossoms at Night. The plan goes like this. 5 Japanese submarines with 3 small airplanes carrying plague infected fleas travel across the Pacific Ocean and close the United States and Mexico's west coasts. The Japanese would release the planes and would first hit San Diego then the plague would spread to Tijuana and Los Angeles and over time would slowly kill the American and Mexican populations also kill the Canadian populations near the Canadian-American Border. Operation Cherry Blossoms at Night was never in affect because the plan was supposed to happen in September 22, 1945 but failed because the U.S used atomic bombs. After the bombing, Japan adopted a new Constitution which made Japan a Democratic monarchy and a defensive country instead of an aggressive one.
