When we think of Kingdoms we think of mostly Europe as at one time all of Europe had a monarch but overtime, republics were the new famous thing around the world. And a lot of kingdoms fell apart. But not all kingdoms are gone, their are a lot of kingdoms across well not as many back then but still a lot of monarchies. In the world their is currently 46 countries that have kings/queens. 46! But don't be that surprised, 16 of those countries recognize Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain as their monarch including the UK and 3 of those countries recognize Queen Margarethe II of Denmark as their monarch including Denmark. So let's get into it. Spain. We talked a lot about Spain, and if you were here from start to finish you should know that Spain was a kingdom for 538 years until it became a Democratic Republic for 9 years then a Fascist Republic for 37 years and back to a monarchy and not that long ago in 2014 former King Juan Carlos I of Spain abdicated and gave the Spanish Crown to his son current King Felipe VI of Spain. Sweden and Norway. The Kingdoms of Sweden and Denmark have been fighting for Norway since 1234, they did stop when Norway became an independent Kingdom from Denmark and Sweden and well Denmark, Norway, and Sweden stayed as Kingdoms. Denmark and Norway turned into Fascist puppet states when Nazi Germany invaded them and was annexed until the Germans surrendered turning back into kingdoms. Not all kingdoms are in Europe as a matter a fact a majority of kingdoms are from Asia. Japan. Japan has been a kingdom ever since it started as a country, but they were called Emperor's then a bunch of coups made Shoguns and Emperors switching as the King of Japan until a final coup made the Japanese Emperors go back into power then came Japan's Imperial ambitions. The last Emperor of Imperial Japan, Emperor Hirohito Showa then changed Japan into a democratic monarchy and then Showa died in 1989 replacing him with the current Emperor/King of Japan Emperor Akihito. In the Arabian Peninsula in the Middle East their many kingdoms, just like Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait. Their is one Kingdom. The Vatican City, Vatican City has a king. It's the Pope. Why? Because Italian History and Catholic History but that's a story for another time.
