The United States of America, or also known as America. But many people will disagree calling the United States as America, mostly South Americans, In English speaking eyes there is North America and South America, in South American eyes there is one continent America. South Americans basically call themselves Americans because the 1st use if the use of America was for South America. There is only one name for the U.S that is not America, Los Estados Unidos. But may people say Los Estados Unidos is not a correct way to say the United States of America because they might get confused with Los Estados Unidos Mexicanos a.k.a Mexico. The official name of Mexico is The United Mexican States or the United States of Mexico. Speaking of Mexico, Mexico might be the only Spanish speaking nation that believes there are 2 Americas, because Mexico does like Canada and the U.S more than it's other Spanish speaking companions. Speaking of Canada and the U.S South Americans might have mistakenly believe that Canada is part of the United States, well because they were both colonized by Great Britain and both speak English and American and Canadian culture is almost the same. Don't forget that Canada is completely surrounded by the United States when it cimes to land which might make South Americans believe that Canada and the U.S are the same country. The U.S might call themselves America because the denonym of the U.S which is American. Again South America disagrees calling themselves Americans. The Spanish word Estadounidense is what Spanish speakers use for people of the U.S, but Estadounidense translated in English literally means United Statsian. The Spanish also have the word Americano which means inhabitants of the American continent, which means not talking about the United States. There is also the word Norteamericano which is a word that means inhabitants of the U.S, but in Spanish the Sub-Continent America Del Norte which is Canada, U.S, and Mexico, it's a bit pointless since Canadians and Mexicans are also Norteamericanos but aren't called that to South Americans. Germans have the word U.S Amerikaner which means U.S American. So America, Country or Continent? Well what do you think? Video belongs to YouTuber WonderWhy
