In this chapter we're going to talk about misconceptions about history. Napoleon . When you think of someone in history that is relatively short you might think of Napoleon. Napoleon was 5'2' but French inches were bigger than British inches which meant that Napoleon's height in British inches would be 5'7' which was considered tall back in the early 1800's. Vikings. Vikings never had horns on their helmets, if Vikings did have horns on their helmet their enemies would have many advantages over the Vikings if they wore horned helmets, so when archeologists went to actual Viking sites and only found helmets without horns well you should know the rest. Holocaust. When you think of who was killed in the Holocaust you might say just the Jews. Yes Jews were mainly targeted but Democratic Republicans from Spain, Communists, ethnic Poles and others were also killed in the Holocaust. Benjamin Franklin discovered electricity. Benjamin Franklin never discovered electricity, what Franklin did with his kite in 1756 was trying to prove that if electricity was in lightning, and his electricity-lightning theory was correct. You can see the Great Wall of China on the moon. You can't see the Great Wall of China from space. Why? Because Empire. In the early centuries of A.D the Tang Dynasty attempted to build an extremely long wall right next to Peking (Beijing). And the wall wasn't finished until the Qing Dynasty took power. And of course the wall is 30 Meters wide which means you might confuse the wall as a river and the wall is very old so you might think the wall is a line of trees. Christopher Columbus. There is so many things wrong with the re-telling of Columbus' story. First Columbus wasn't the first to say the Earth was round alright a guy from the Roman Empire said that. And Columbus wasn't the first European in the American Continents, Icelandic Vikings made non permanent settlements in Greenland and Canada but we have no clue what happened to them. If you say Christopher Columbus discovered the U.S.A you're incorrect because a Spanish Conquistador named Juan Ponce De León was the first European to set foot on the continental United States. Well that's all the misconceptions for today.
