Quebec. If you don't know what Quebec is, Quebec is a Canadian Province in Western Canada. Quebec is different from the rest of Canada because more people speak French in Quebec than any other province. As a matter of fact, Quebec is so culturally different from the rest of Canada, that a referendum for Quebec's independence from Canada actually happened. Canada won the referendum which made Quebec stay as part of Canada. Why? Well in 1534 Jacques Cartier led an expedition to the New World (Americas) and Cartier landed on the Gaspe Peninsula and claimed the land for the Kingdom of France which started the French colony of New France. In 1603 Samuel De Champlain led an expedition from the Gaspe Peninsula all the way to the end of St. Lawrence River claiming land all around the St. Lawrence River and over time the French made cities like Quebec City and Montreal. After losing the 7 Years War from Great Britain the French seceded their land to the British and the land under what is now Quebec which was close to the 13 British Colonies and Spanish Florida. And ever sinced Quebec was under the British control until Canada's independence from the United Kingdom. Now the people of Quebec don't want to have a Canadian flag over their head.
