Geo's POV
I couldn't stop thinking about Lucy and the look she pulled when I had to be taken away from her. The fact that I may never see her in person again scared me.
"So is Lucy going to be taken away to England or what?" I asked the police man who was walking in front of me, not meaning to sound so aggressive.
"That's confidential." The man replied back, even more aggressively. I just shrugged even though inside I was crying.
I ran my hand down my hair and sighed, staring at the floor and not caring about how worried I must have looked.
He sat me down in a chair and walked into a room. I stared at my legs, which were shaking, and then jumped when Ariel sat beside me.
"Why are you here?" I hissed, my eyes wide.
"I told everyone I went home, no one knows I'm here so I gotta be quick." She hissed back. "I heard everything the police men were talking about."
I didn't bother to ask her how although I probably will later if I can.Right now I just need to know what she heard.
"Lucy's leaving and you're going to court in a few days time."
"W-what? N-no.. that's not fair!"
"About Lucy or you?"
"Lucy!"
Ariel sighed and grabbed my hand. I stared at our hands in shock for a few seconds and then turned back to Ariel. This isn't like her, she hates me.
"I'm so scared Geo." Ariel whispered. "You know how hard England is for her."
Her voice cracked in the middle of that sentence and she then began crying. She then face forward and covered her head with her hands. I rubbed her back for reassurance, trying my best to not cry with her.
"Uh Ariel.. I'm really sorry but you really should go before someone sees you here."
"Oh.. oh yeah, um see you Geo."
She stood up and then wiped away tears. I stood up too and gave her a hug. Before you know it she left, leaving me on my own yet again.
Lucy's POV
"Mario!" I said when Mario came out. I forced myself to sound cheerful but inside I was anything but happy. I stood up to give him a big hug which lasted longer than expected.
"You can't leave." He whispered whilst we were still hugging.
"I know." I whispered back.
"But you're leaving and-"
I let go of him and stared directly in his eyes.
"What?"
"You're leaving after Geo goes to court."
"Geo goes to..?"
Mario didn't answer my question, there wasn't any need to. We just carried on staring at each other for a while with sad eyes. It seems like me having fun in America was just a dream and that I'm now making my way to reality.
"I'm sorry but your parents are evil."
I didn't reply. His remark didn't even upset me. They don't seem like my parents anymore, they just seem like two people who I hate more than anything, even Loren.
"Lucy I need to tell you something before you go."
"Go on." I replied.
Mario opened his mouth but nothing came out. He then tried again, and said a little too quickly: "I'm in love with you."
This time I was the one who opened their mouth but didn't manage to say anything. It was fair to say that I was speechless.
"You.. still like me?"
"Yes. I've never stopped liking you since I told you. Actually, it was since we were walking out of the hospital after seeing Geo and we held hands."
"Mario.."
"I know you like Geo and that's ok I understand. But I just wanted to tell you now because I know that I would regret it if I didn't tell you when you leave."
I don't even know why I choose to do this, to be honest I think it was a bad idea but I kissed Mario. It wasn't even meant to last longer than 2 seconds but it ended up lasting 20. After I was done I could see tears filling up in Mario's eyes.
"I.. I was told to go to leave but I'll see you soon."
I then watched him leaving the room without saying goodbye and slumped down in my chair, regretting every second of what just happened.
