I'm sorry. She had heard this so many times. All she could do was hold her head in her hands. She had met Anthony's family and they didn't approve of her. His brother was worried that Anthony would get hurt. Now he was trying to convince his brother that he loved Jayde. This was a mistake, she thought. She wanted to get out of there as fast as humanly possible. Why does everything eventually get fucked up?
She walked outside and Anthony followed behind her. She sat down on the steps with tears coming down her face. He looked at her and he held her in his arms. "I love you and I'm so sorry". She didn't know what to say. All she could do was cry. He wiped her tears away with his thumb. "They hate me", she said softly.
"That's because they don't know you like I do. I love you. I love you so much".
She nodded with tears still flowing down her face.
They left and went back to their apartment. The next day the squad noticed that she was quieter. Amanda pulled her aside and asked what was wrong. "Anthony's family hates me. We met his brother and sister yesterday".
"Oh, I am so sorry. Why don't they like you?"
"Because I've been married twice and have four kids. I just feel like every time I fall in love, it just gets fucked up".
"I know Anthony loves you. Who cares what his family thinks. Screw them".
This made her laugh. "This is why you're like my sister". Amanda put her arm around her shoulder smiling.
That evening after work, she and Anthony talked about what had happened. "I love you so much. I just feel like every time I fall in love, it gets fucked up somehow. My first husband filed for divorce without telling me, my second husband had an affair and now your family hates me".
He nodded. "It's not fair. It's not fair to you or the kids. I still want to be with you".
Tears were coming down her face again. "I want to be with you too. I want to marry you. What about your family?"
He sighed. "I don't know". He shook his head. "This isn't your fault".
"I know. Shit just happens".
Later Anthony tried talking to his brother but he wouldn't change his mind. Jayde went from the living room and on to her bed. She could hear Anthony on the phone arguing. He was frustrated and after he hung up, he went to the bedroom and laid beside her. She turned towards him. "He wants us to break up?"
He nodded. "I am so sorry. I love you and I will always love you".
She laid in bed not knowing what to say. Before he left, she gave him the ring and she spent the remainder of the day laying in bed.
Still looking forward and not back. Forget regret.
The next day she ran into Rafael. He noticed that her ring was off. Without saying anything, he gave her a hug. "Who's choice was it?"
"It was mutual. His family didn't like me".
"Jayde, I am so sorry. Those people are crazy. Everyone loves you".
She nodded. "Thank you".
"How are the kids doing?"
"They don't understand. This is why I didn't want him meeting them right away. He agreed to visit them. He hadn't moved in with us officially yet".
The squad noticed that Jayde wasn't wearing her ring. She just sighed. "It is what it is". Sonny came over and gave her a hug. They all nodded and went over the case. "Is she willing to testify", Olivia asked her.
"I'll ask. She's very scared. Her rapist threatened to kill her if she told", Jayde told her.
"That's how these sickos get away with this kind of stuff", Fin told them.
"I'll talk to her. Maybe I can convince her that we can protect her", Jayde said.
Olivia nodded.
"I don't know if I can do it", Leigh told Jayde. They were sitting on the couch in Jayde's office.
"I know you're afraid. That's normal. Just remember, this was never your fault and I am so sorry that this happened to you. I want to make sure this never happens again".
Leigh nodded. "Ok, I'll do it. Will you help me?"
Jayde smiled. "Of course!" Leigh gave her a hug. "I won't let anyone hurt you". After talking to Leigh, she went back to the precinct. Olivia saw her and came over. "Jayde. What's going on?"
"I talked to Leigh. She agreed to testify".
"Wow. Ok then. I'll call Barba". Jayde nodded and walked out. Sonny watched her leave. He wanted to talk to her.
It took a month before Jayde was able to move on from Anthony. She had spent her nights after putting her kids to bed, crying quietly. It wasn't fair. She missed him. Johnny had heard from Steven about the breakup and he texted her to see how she was doing. It hurts. – Jayde
I know, love. This wasn't fair. Someday you'll find someone who won't leave you and will be with you for the rest of your life. You deserve that so much. You take care of yourself and fall in love when you're ready. I love you. – Johnny

Sonny came over and asked how she was. "I'm doing better. It still sucks but forget regret, right?"
He smiled a little and he wrapped her in his arms. "You are probably the most positive person I've ever met".
She laughed. "Besides you?"
He laughed to himself. They sat down on the couch. She rested her head on his shoulder. He put his arm around her. He looked at her. "I want to kiss you".
She bit her lip. "Ok". He pulled some of her hair back and he kissed her softly. It was something he had been waiting to do for years. She put her hands around him and he pulled her closer. "You don't know how long I've been wanting to do that, doll".
She laughed. "Since you met me?"
He laughed then kissed her again. After he left, he was floating on clouds. He went back to the precinct excited. He went to the break station and Amanda went over to him. "How's Jayde?"
He didn't say say anything but the grin on his face said everything. Amanda's jaw dropped. "Oh my god! Finally!"
He looked at her. "I know! She agreed to give me a chance".
"She deserves this you know".
He walked back to his desk after refilling his cup with coffee. Fin noticed his smile and he looked at him confused. "What's up with you?"
Amanda came up behind Sonny. "Jayde finally decided to give him a chance".
Fin smiled. "Well congratulations! Don't hurt her or you'll have to answer to me".
Amanda laughed.
That night Sonny went back to Jayde's apartment. The kids were with Rafael for the weekend. They went back over to her couch where he kissed her again. She laughed. "You're so adorable, Sonny".
He laughed. "Why's that?"
"You're like an excited kid".
"That's because I finally got the woman I've been waiting for".
"Well I'm honored". She smiled as he kissed her again. She put her head on his shoulder again and wrapped her arm around his.
