My new ship was ready for launch, after I'd packed my suitcase. I stared through the nicely tinted window shield, and glanced at the Red Lion.
Keith...
I got up, striding over to make sure he was okay. After the ceremony, he'd ran off to his Lion and didn't even say bye. Red let me in, and I placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Shiro, I already-"
He stopped, realizing it was me.
"Oh. It's just you."
"What do you mean, 'just me'?"
I tried to get him to laugh in that cute way he does, but he ignored me.
"Are you feeling okay?"
I tried again.
"I need to be alone. Just like you wanted, right?"
He said bluntly, and I wondered why he was acting like this.
"I don't want you to be alone! I never wanted you to be alone!"
I protested, yelling now.
"Then maybe you should've thought about that before you rejected me."
His voice was hard, and angry.
"And besides," he continued after I was quiet and stunned, "we're taking off anyways."
I walked away briskly, not turning my head. I knew he wasn't following.
