I heard something pass my room.

I got up quickly from my routinely push-ups to inspect that noise.

A shadow.

I followed them to the kitchen, where I saw them stopping over the counter. I became puzzled.

Unless there was some radioactive Galra super weapon in the Altean pantry, I couldn't figure out why the intruder had chosen the kitchen to rob, of all places in the Castle.

I switched on the light, and the figure whipped their head around.

My eyes widened.

Nitro stood, slightly stooped over, with a piece of bread dangling from her mouth. She dropped the Altean peanut butter can on the floor.

"Hey, dad."
She said, her mouth full.

Forgetting my shock, I chuckled and pulled her into a hug.

"(Y/n), we were so worried..."

She finished the bread.
"I'm-"

"Are you hurt?"
I placed my hand on her cheek.

"Shiro. I'm okay."
She placed her hand on top of mine. I looked back at the door.

"Does Keith know you're back?"

Something sly crossed her face.

In a split second, it was gone.

"Why? Did he miss me?"

I didn't know what to say. Keith had openly told the team he loved her. But at the same time, I felt like he would tell her himself if he had wanted her to know. Right?

She laughed, waving her hand.
"I'm messing with you. Keith definitely knows I'm back. I slept next to him last night."

"With him?"
I raised a brow.

"Next to, I said!"

I sighed.
"I know. And I'm sorry if I came off as a little overprotective earlier. I just didn't want you to get hurt. Especially not by the Galra."

"Shiro. I completely understand. When I left, I caused the team to panic. The Galra Empire-"

"That's not what I meant."

"Weren't you just talking about the Galra?"

She didn't know anything about him, I realized.

She didn't know he was Galra.

Maybe he hadn't told her yet.

"Who, Shiro? Which Galra?"

"Um. Just the race. In general."

"Oh. Don't worry about them. I'm not, anyway."

"Why not?"

She grinned.
"Because I have the beefiest Space Dad to watch my back."

I chuckled.
"I'm not sure about being the beefiest, but you always know what to say. And you're right. No Galra is going to hurt my Space Kids."

"I'm glad you agree. I'm going to bring breakfast to Keith, we can catch up later, 'kay?"

"Alright."
I nodded, and she took the Altean bread to Keith's room.

(Y/n) was right about one thing.

No Galra is going to hurt my kiddo.
