"Nitro!"
I yelled, diving into the pool.

I dragged her up to the surface.
"Nitro... Nitro, please..."

Her head lolled back, and her eyes opened. I sighed, relieved.

"You had me worried back there."

"Where's... where's-"
She was still dazed.

"Shhh... you're okay. I got you."
I pulled her out of the pool, and then myself.

I carried her to my room, setting her gently on the bed after patting her with a towel and taking off the first swim shirt. Stupid shirt.

She was supposed to be wearing my shirt, not Pidge's.

I dried myself, taking off my shirt.

"Nitro, what happened?"
I put my finger under her chin.

She only stared blankly into my eyes. I became nervous.
"Nitro?"

She never blinked.

"Nitro, please! You're scaring me-"

"You."
She whispered suddenly.

"Yes, it's me! It's me, Keith! It's your friend, your buddy Keith!"
I felt a spark of hope, although it killed me to say it.

Just your friend.

That's all I am to you.

"You pushed me."

My heart shattered into a million pieces when she said that.

"No, I would never-"

"You let me drown."
Her body convulsed, and I grabbed her by the shoulders.

"No! Nitro, please-"

"You said you didn't need me."
Her voice was bitter.

My voice cracked.
"You know that's not true."

She was silent again.

Tears swam in my eyes.

"I still need you."
