I opened my eyes.

No. She still wasn't back yet.

'She promised,' I reminded myself.

But deep down, I knew she wasn't coming back. She was dead. Lying to myself just made me feel a little bit better. If she wasn't back by tonight, I would lose any hope left.

I don't know when it happened, but I drifted off to sleep. I only know I had fallen asleep because I woke up to a faint alarm only in the room I was in. The hangar.

My heart thudded in my ears.

My Nitro.

I ran as fast as I could to the descending ship, crying and laughing by then. The door opened, and she smiled sadly at me. I tackled her into a hug, sobbing loudly and burying my face in her neck.

"Nitro..."

"Space Boy..."
She kissed my forehead.

"I missed you so much!"
I cried out.

"I missed you too."
I felt her run her fingers through my hair, and I held her tighter.

"Please don't leave me again."
I begged.

"I don't think I want to."
She laughed, and I kissed her.

It was longer than the last one, I felt my lungs ache. I wanted her, I wanted to stay like this forever.

We broke apart, and did it again several more times.

"Keith?"

"Yes, baby?"

She didn't hit me this time.
"When was the last time you slept? You sound really tired."

"Not since you left, not the whole night anyways."

"Quiznak, you can't do that to yourself. Why would you even-"
She scolded, picking me up and carrying me to her room.

"I couldn't sleep without you."

"Well now I'm here. So go to sleep."
She set me on the bed.

"I have to make sure you're okay."
I protested.

"I'm fine. Don't worry about me."
Nitro assured me.

"What do you mean, 'don't worry about me?' Yesterday I saw you get stabbed in your gunshot wound!"

"Keith, I took care of it. I'll be fine."

"Let me see it, then."

She shook her head, and pulled off her shirt. I traced the line with my fingers. I looked up at her.

"Does it still hurt?"

"No."

"Don't lie to me."

"I'm not."

I let out a sigh, curling up into her chest and wrapping my arms around her waist protectively.

"You really scared me back there, you know that?"
My voice was shaky.

She was quiet.

I peeked, and her eyes were closed. She was really tired.

So was I. I hadn't slept since she'd left. I had been too nervous.

I kissed her jaw, and snuggled up close to her. I could feel her pulse.
"Goodnight, love."
