I pressed my back against the cool castle walls, finally releasing the breath I'd held for so long.

I knew it. Allura wanted me gone.

I waited for a long time. They were all sleeping, soon enough. I was going to either have to wake up Allura to turn off the barrier for me, or blast my way out.

Even considering her support towards my decision, I didn't think she would dare do anything to anger or disappoint Shiro.

Ha! And she still thought she was in charge. How cute.

Guess we're going with option two.

There was still something left I had to take care of before leaving.

I snuck into Keith's room quietly. His back was faced towards me, his breathing slow. He was sleeping. I sat down, a hand running through his hair.

"Keith, I know things have been really weird and... well, confusing. For the longest time. Pulling away was my fault, not yours. I just wanted to keep you safe. And I know you want to keep me safe, too. But you've already been through so much, mostly because of me. It's my turn now. I have to do this. For you. For us."

I smiled sadly.
"I really like you, Space Boy."

I kissed his neck softly.

"You wouldn't understand."
I whispered, and left.
