'I'm not what she wants anymore.'
I thought angrily, taking my small dagger out of my belt.

'I've never been what she wanted.'

'And I never will be.'

I clenched my eyes shut.
'Stupid, stupid! Of course not!'

'She'll never like me. She hates me-'

I slammed my fist against the wall, and got out of bed. I passed the living room, where Lance waved me over.

I groaned.
"Lance, I don't have time for your-"

"Dude, it's important!!"
He whisper yelled.

I huffed, walking over and peering over the couch. My eyebrows furrowed together in confusion.

"Wait, why-"

"I dunno. Ask them yourself!"
Lance shrugged, flicking Nitro in the nose causing her to jolt awake.

"L-Lance!!"

"The one and only."
He smirked.

"Shut your quiznak, Lance!"
I growled at him, helping her off the couch. It was kind of awkward.

"So... uh... mind telling us what you three did last night?"
Lance raised his eyebrows.

"Lance, stop it! You're making her uncomfortable!" I yelled.

"Well you're making me uncomfortable!" He shot back, throwing his arms in the air to seem bigger than me, getting in my face.

"Get out."

Shiro groaned awake, eyes widening as he saw me standing there.
"Oh, hey, Keith."

I only grunted a hello.

"Keith, we were all up late last night. Nothing happened. We just fell asleep on the couch, that's all."
Nitro stared straight at me.

"O-oh. I believe you. Heh. Um... could we... I don't know, talk about stuff?"
I scratched the back of my neck.

Nitro nodded quietly.
"Yeah, I've been wanting to talk to you, too. It's been hectic here, I-"

Pidge woke up, and she scratched her eyes from under her glasses.
"Keith? Shiro? Huh?"

Shiro nodded at us.
"Go ahead."

I averted my eyes from him, I had a feeling he knew about my feelings....

I led her to my dorm, closing the door behind us. I was lost in thought.

"Keith."

"Eh? Oh, right."
I blushed. Nitro didn't seem to notice, she only stood there blankly.

I sighed.
"Could we... be friends again?"

"I thought we were."

"I thought you hated me?"

"I hate it when you stop me from doing things I choose to, yeah. But I don't hate... you..."

"I won't stop you, I just wanted to make sure you were safe. Please understand that. I care about you."

She looked me dead in the eyes.
"You care about me?"

I felt my face go numb and burn up.
"Uh! I mean, it would suck if we lost a fighter like you, heh. And as a teammate, of course!"

She gave a small smile, and patted my shoulder. Like a friend would.

"Of course."

I mentally slapped myself.

'No, not as a friend! Forget that stupid Galra and be with me! I'll keep you safe! I'll protect you-'

"Could I have a hug?"
I found myself asking instead.

She pulled me into a hug, both of us pretending to feel that this was the best route for our relationship.

'Who am I to like a girl like you?'

'I have nothing to offer you, besides my protection...but if it's not good enough-'

"Keith?"
She said, muffled by my shoulder.

"Mm?"

"I missed you too."

'You have no idea how much I've missed you... you'll never know.'
