The planet exploded, sending a sonic boom across the area. The ship lurched, and Allura groaned.

"Coran, see if any of the planet's projectiles hit the ship."

"Got it, Princess."

I ignored them, still staring at the explosion where Nitro had been left behind with that monster.

"Nitro..."

Shiro put a hand on my shoulder, and spoke in a soft voice.
"Keith, I don't think she-"

"No! Don't say that! She's still there, she could've made it!"
I snapped, lying to myself now.

"Keith, the whole planet blew up!"
Lance tried to reason.

"I don't care! Nitro's strong enough to... to..."
My face went slack.

"Keith. What's wrong?"
Shiro demanded.

Not saying another word, I made a mad dash for Red.

"Keith!"

I ignored him. Soon, I was flying towards the speck in space.

'Please be her, please...'

As I flew closer, I let out a relieved sigh. It was her. Nitro's limp body floated in space, her helmet cracked. There was no way she could breathe without oxygen.

Red opened his mouth to accept her, and soon she was in my arms.

"Nitro... I'm so sorry..."

"I shouldn't have left your side."
