"Nitro, wait."
I called after her, and she turned.

"Yeah?"

"Be careful."

"You worry too much, Space Boy."
She laughed.

"You don't worry enough."
I said, and she pulled me into a hug.

"I'll be fine. I have you, remember?"

I smiled a small little grin.
"Yeah, I know."

"So can I ride in your Lion, or-"

"What happened to your ship?"
I asked, concerned.

"Nothing happened. But Allura thinks we'll save more power in case of an emergency. I'm still taking the ship, but it'll travel in your Lion, is all."

"Oh. Yeah, sure. Can't have you flying with that maniac of a pilot Lance."
I laughed, and she snorted.

"Thanks."
She ran to get her ship. I waited for her by Red, leaning against the strong metal leg patiently.

I finally saw her ship, and Red's stomach opened up to accept it. As it started lifting, Nitro climbed out and took my arm. Red's stomach closed, sealing the ship inside until ejected.

"Ready?"

"Yeah!"
She laughed, and we walked into Red's mouth to the pilot seat.

She sat in my lap, as she always did.

Allura's voice was heard through our helmets, announcing takeoff.
"Go, Paladins! The castle will be right behind you, in case it's an emergency. Or, if it's a bigger emergency than expected."

Hunk's audible grumbling could be heard, and everyone else groaned.

"Let it go, Hunk!"
Pidge sassed, and he protested under his breath so we couldn't hear.

The Lions took off, and I sped up and flew a little faster than the others.

'To show off to her.'
Red twitched his tail, amused.

"Keith, calm down buddy."
Lance jeered from my speaker.

"I am calm."
I shot back, and Nitro suddenly gripped my hand, looking sick.

"Nitro... are you..."

"I don't know... what's wrong with me..." She gasped out.

"N-nothing's wrong with you!"
I put a defensive hand around her, as we entered the planet's atmosphere.

"It hurts... I don't know why-"

"Nitro, what's happening?"
Shiro's said through our helmets.

"I don't know..."

"Hold on. We're landing."
I pulled down to the ground, and Nitro scrambled to the door.

"Where are you going?"
I called after her.

"Outside... I need to go outside..."

I followed her, and a troop of Galra soldiers greeted us. I held Nitro's arm so she wouldn't collapse.

A low chuckling noise was heard, as a  cloaked Galra stepped forward.

"It's been a long time, friend."

I felt a shudder go through Nitro.
