The day they stole my sister and i from our parents, was the same day my mother was murdered. My father was brought with us looked at as 'leverage' in case one of us acted out.
"It's okay Jess. These guys are gonna help us," I said to my six year old little sister. I was only two years older which meant she was kept mostly in the dark about the virus and the flares. All she knew was people were getting sick but her and I were immune, or so we thought.
Weeks went by of countless tests being performed on me. All different kinds too. I had been shocked to forget my name, my previous name was Miya, my new name was (Y/N).
I had given hundred of viles of blood despite it being my worst fear. Yup, the cranks scared me less than the needles did.
I was interrogated for hours about what I knew about Wicked. All I could say was they were a group of people fighting for a cause to save the species. Nothing more. But they didn't believe me.
My sister wasn't given any of the tests I was given. She was given daily classes and vitamins with the exception of a blood test once a week. She didn't seem to mind though.
They had me sleeping inside my own cell with a single bed and desk although my sister was put inside a large room filled with ten bunk beds, every bed filled with a girl ranging from the ages of 6-12.
After a week of that, they moved me into the barracks of all boys. They seemed fine with it and allowed me my own bed in the corner of the room which happened to he beside Newt's, my best friend.
I had finished my blood test for today when I was released into the cafeteria like every normal day. The cafeteria was a large room filled with lined tables of kids like me, boys and girls.
I walked through the crowd smiling at the kids smiling up at me. I had tried to be nice to everyone knowing how poorly us kids were treated by the adults.
I found the table of my friends, all boys of course considering they were who I spent my classes during the day with. They had the boys and girls separated except for me and a boy named Chris who spent his days with the girls. I wasn't sure why but I didn't feel like upsetting the guards and asking.
"Hey (Y/N)," Alby smiled as I sat down beside Newt across from Minho and Alby.
"You guys ready for today?" I asked stealing a piece of fruit from Minho's plate. Today was the day we found out who was immune and who wasn't.
"Not really," Minho sighed and looked past Newt and I.
The girls always arrived once a week and were usually after us, group A, so I assumed they were coming in now. Newt and I spun around and glanced the crowd until we each found our sibling.
We ran to them and engulfed them in hugs although I had to be in my knees to be as tall as my sister.
"I missed you (Y/N)," she cried.
"I missed you too Madison," I sighed and held onto her small head. I found it unbearably hard to call her something other than her real name but she didn't seem to have a problem with it.
"Wanna come sit with me?" I asked. She nodded and took my hand. We walked together to the table where my boys had stayed.
I had her sit to my right, leaving Newt's space empty for if he decided to come back to us or stay with his sister. Her real name was Elizabeth (or Lizzy as Newt called her) but they renamed her Sonya for some reason and newt couldn't stand it like me.
"Remember Madison?" I asked Minho and Alby who were smiling at my small sister.
"Hey Madi," Minho smiled although she looked hesitantly towards him as usual.
