* This imagine was requested PrincessofPugs I'm sorry if this isn't exactly how you wanted but I think it's pretty close! Thank you for sending this one in and I'll have the others hopefully really soon! :) *
It wasn't easy adjusting to my new life. Waking up inside a dark box, leading me to a large field of only boys, surrounded by a monster filled maze. Nothing was easy. So it made complete sense that I would be a little depressed and closed off from the strangers. Apparently, the other boys didn't think so.
Not that they were rude, but they had no sense of personal space. I couldn't get a minute of silence without dodging boys and hiding in the woods where they didn't dare go. Most of the boys were nice when they did catch me at a time that I couldn't escape, but I still didn't enjoy the way they talked my ears off.
Out of all the boys, only one of them seemed to understand how I was feeling. Alby, the leader of this place, kept me behind his back most of the day. I was living in his shadow where I happily kept my mouth shut and head down. I didn't want attention and using Alby as a guard was the perfect accident.
When the boys first pulled me out of the box and into their 'glade', I stole a machete from the back of a scrawny blond boy and took off running. I would have made it out the large doors- where I later found would have killed me if I did end up escaping- if it weren't for a large Asian boy tackling me to the ground.
After kicking him straight in his privates, I hid behind Alby with my machete pointed towards the others through the space between Alby's arm and torso. Alby laughs at it occasionally since he thought it was hilarious but knew that during that moment it was best to keep his lips sealed.
That was also how I earned my job: Runner. Ironically, the boy who tackled me was none other than the Keeper- their weird word for leader- of Runners. He told me I had great reflexes and fast legs. Also that I was, and I quote, "one tough she-bean for using that shank as a shield". The job was scary, but it kept me from being in the glade with the others.
The only interaction I had with someone, besides Alby and Minho, was dinner. Alby convinced me it was nicer to eat with him and his friends than in my bedroom (the one I shared with Alby) or in the Map-room. It was on the third day of him begging me to join him that I caved.
His friends were nice. Thomas was a curious boy who sometimes joined me in the maze. He, for the most part, focused on his food more than me. Chuck- who happened to be the youngest glader and the most annoying- never stopped talking. Whether there was food in his mouth or not, he never stopped.
I was close to Minho so sitting with him was no problem and by that I meant about sitting by me. He had his own set of problems that leaked into our work. Lastly, there was the second in command. Newt acted as a babysitter sometimes if Alby was busy, since I didn't like to be alone. I rarely stuck up for myself so Newt was second best behind Alby. He was sweet, caring and very handsome for a boy who almost never talked to me, which for me was bittersweet.
The worst part of the glade was the boy's attempts at making me laugh. As I said before, I'm extremely shy and closed off. So, I don't talk much to the others even when they want me to. The amount of pick up lines and jokes I have heard have reached the thousands by now.
"Hey (Y/N)?" Minho said running a little faster to even up our speeds. He made a rule to keep talking to a minimum when running to help your breathing but he seemed to constantly ignore his own rule. He knew there wasn't a response coming so he continued anyway. "Are those galaxy pants because that ass is out of this world."
I focused my attention on the ever changing maze covered in thick vines and goo. He didn't notice my rolled eyes and kept the sly grin on his face.
